Sam held Charlie and her mother's hands at Doc's funeral, to support them and to make them think she was taking their support. They lowered Doc into the ground and Sam felt someone squeeze her shoulder, her father. She kept her face sad and walked forward, putting the rose on the grave. She saw Mitch beside her father and tried to smile at him. Charlie saw and when Sam stood beside her again, she leaned close to Sam.
"You okay?" She whispered and for the first time in their entire lives, Sam hugged her, crying into her shoulder. "It's okay, Sam. It's over now," Everyone started leaving and Mitch took Sam off Charlie. Evan pulled Charlie against his shoulder. "I've never had Sam hug me while crying." Evan kissed her head.
"Her godfather was killed by her boyfriend's mother," He frowned. "That's messed up even when you say it." They walked to the car where Snow White stood and she smiled at Evan.
"Evan, I heard you tried to save Grumpy," He nodded. "That shows what the school has been saying for years, don't judge people by their parents." Evan saw her glance at her ex husband.
"It's how you were brought up not who your family is that decides who you are," He saw Evanna beckoning him and Charlie over. "Ms White, my sister seems to want to talk to us, would you excuse us?" Snow White nodded and they walked over to Evanna and the others. "I was in the middle of making Snow White approve of me, what is it?" Evanna gestured at Mitch.
"He told us that you guys are trying to find the villains," Evan and Charlie gave Mitch a look. "I think that we can help." She gestured at Jal, Calvin, Bri and herself. Evan bit his lip.
"Don't you think that all of us suddenly spending time together won't be suspicious?" Bri smiled and pointed at herself.
"I'm dating Cal," She pointed at Calvin. "Cal is Jal's roommate," Her finger moved to Jal. "Jal is dating your sister," She moved to Evanna. "Evanna is your sister, you're dating Charlie, Mitch is your roommate and dating Sam who is also Charlie's sister," She spread her arms. "It makes sense that we'd hang out together." Evan turned to Charlie who raised her arms.
"They've got a point," Charlie pointed her finger at him when he opened his mouth. "It's true but I'm on your side. They've won, they're helping," She looked at Bri. "So, what do you have?" Bri looked around as though looking for someone. "There's no one that can hear us, so? What you got?" Bri took a deep breath.
"I think the new girl is a spy for the villains," She held up her hand silencing everyone who opened their mouths to argue. "This started happening when she got here. Someone helped the villains escape and that person probably killed Cecil, she makes the most sense...She's the only person I want it to be." Evan shook his head.
"That's not how it works," He looked at Doc's grave. "This is real life, the villain isn't who you want it to be, it'll be who you least expect." Calvin frowned.
"But it is the person you expect it to be for us," He gestured at everyone. "Our parents' lives are that. The evil stepmother, the lusting guy, the fairy not invited to the party, the woman who asked for your dogs to make them into a coat. It's obvious for us and Jetta seems obvious to me," Charlie and Sam looked at each other, covering their mouths. "What?" Charlie lowered her hand.
"What if Cecil helped them escape and they killed him to cover their tracks?" Bri slowly nodded. "Which could mean that any of our siblings might be on the villains' side to have our father die, no matter what...What if they are?" Evan hugged her, chin on her head.
"Then we'll try not to get them hurt," He looked at Snow White who went back to the grave. "Sam, if you asked, would your mother let you go to see the cottage and bring us?" Sam kicked a stone.
