-One Year Later-

"Luke!" I squealed once I answered the Skype call.

I was met with the very familiar face of Luke Hemmings. The boy who I haven't seen in what's felt like an eternity. The boy who gave me his friendship, his hat, and his heart.

He laughed and waved. "Hey there, Delilah."

"Have you finished that song yet?"

"I'm sorry I took so long," he whispered in my ear. "I was up all night writing another song."

I pulled back and gave a toothless smile. "Can I hear it?"

"Not yet."

Luke paused for a second in thought then nodded. "Actually, yes. I have."

"Are you going to let me hear it? I've been waiting a year, Hemmings. You better let me hear it." I demanded, coming close to my laptop.

Luke got up and walked out of view for a moment. When he sat back down, he had his guitar in hand.

"This is another song I wrote just for you. But this one is actually finished."

I let out a giggle, folding my hands over one another. I've been waiting for so long to hear this song, and it was hard to contain my excitement.

Luke began strumming his guitar and I could tell he was nervous. He would be letting all his emotions pour out and I would be the one witnessing it.

He started the song, his soothing voice bringing back memories of when he first sang to me.

"For a while we pretended
That we never had to end it
But we knew we'd have to say goodbye

You were crying at the airport
When they finally closed the plane door
I could barely hold it all inside

Torn in two
And I know I shouldn't tell you
But I just can't stop thinking of you

Wherever you are
You
Wherever you are
Every night I almost call you
Just to say it always will be you
Wherever you are."

Luke strummed his guitar for a few seconds, smiling at me as he did.

"I could fly a thousand oceans
But there's nothing that compares to
What we had, and so I walk alone

I wish I didn't have to be gone
Maybe you've already moved on
But the truth is I don't want to know

Torn in two
And I know I shouldn't tell you
But I just can't stop thinking of you

Wherever you are
You
Wherever you are
Every night I almost call you
Just to say it always will be you
Wherever you are."

You can say we'll be together
Someday
Nothing lasts forever
Nothing stays the same
So why can't I stop feeling this way

Torn in two
And I know I shouldn't tell you
But I just can't stop thinking of you

Wherever you are
You
Wherever you are
Every night I almost call you
Just to say it always will be you
Wherever you are."
