"You're different than any other stranger that walked in here - more unknown."

It was late in the afternoon when Maggie arrived with her dinner. The girl heard the woman put the her dinner on the tiny nightstand close by and went to sit on the bed. The girl was laying away from Maggie, wrapped up in the dirty white sheets.
"You know, I never got your name..."
"That's classified." the younger girl said in a brittle voice.
Maggie gently touched her shoulder but she didn't like the affection, or wasn't familiar with it, and shrugged her off. Maggie took her hand away immediately and sighed.
The girl didn't like anyone touching her, she hated it. Affection was another word for caring and caring meant danger which was the most important lesson she learned from her group. She doesn't remember the last person who touched her in that way; her group treated her with respect but she never had any friends there. Maggie's touch meant more to her than she care to say.
"Well, I got to have something to call you, unless you want to go by 'that girl with the twisted ankle'." Maggie joked. The girl chuckled in a sarcastic way and shook her head.
"Then I'll call you Tick."
"Hell no - why?"
"You were covered in ticks when we found you."
She shivered.
"Eww, please say they are gone."
Maggie chuckled, "Yes, it took Denise hours, but yeah, they're are gone."
"Well, I hate ticks so much don't call me that."
"Then say your name." The brunette woman urged.
"Nah." in hopes of getting under Maggie's skin.
"So Tick it is then?"
"No."
Unexpectedly, Maggie shouted aloud, "Tick!"
"No"
Tick, Tick, Tick...."
"Ugg stop."
"What's your name then?"
No answer from the girl brought on continuous "Ticks" from Maggie.
"It's Hannah, dammit!" The girl shrieked. Maggie laughed, "I would rather dance with a walker than call you Tick all day."
the girl groaned and turned towards Maggie.
So much for being staying unknown. Hannah sighed deeply and looked at Maggie aggressively. The Brunette looked towards her but looked surprised instead.
"Your eyes!"
"Yeah, they're green,"
"And Blue."
"So? Don't you think I got enough attention in my life for my eyes if they make you that surprise, so just give your damn compliment and move on." snarled Hannah.
Maggie ignored her and pushed fallen dirty brown hairs out of her face. "You gotta show that off, you could be the last living human with that."
Hannah was shocked. She never missed Mailee more than right now, remembering how she always pushed hairs out of her face and hugged her to death as a child. Hannah would be lying to herself if she said Maggie's affection didn't feel like Mailee's.
She closed her eyes, fighting the tears pushing behind them, thankfully she was too stubborn to shed them.
"Yeah, maybe if tell my stupid hair to stay back it would stop blocking my creepy eyes."
Her dad always told her how creepy 'that shit is'.
Maggie frowned, "I wouldn't think my baby with eyes with like yours is creepy."
'D-did I just say that aloud?" Hannah numbly questioned. But then she became curious.
"You have a baby?"
"Pretty soon he or she will be in my arms." Maggie smiled brightly.
"Ah, you're pregnant?" she gasped. She hadn't heard those words in a long time, the thought of it made this whole outbreak and end-of-the-world thing seem like a minor problem. Maggie was brave for even considering to do something like that in this new world.
"I'm sorry that I wasn't the nicest person earlier... I hadn't been around people for a while." Hannah lied.
"I get it,"
"Haha, no you don't." Hannah interrupted but apologized again.
"Anyways, don't let your food get too cold and I'll be back here later with Rick and afterwards Denise will help you to the shower because you smell very disgusting." Maggie finished getting up from the bed with a kindling smile plastered on her face. "Rick was kinda suspicious of you but he always is when someone new arrives." Hannah got nervous and slowly nodded her head. Maggie left and she sat on her bed thinking of all the possible punishments their leader could give her if he knew what she up to. Squeezing herself together she encouragingly said, "When I get back to my group when this mission is over I'm so looking forward to my early retirement." she thought. She was only 16 and already hated this forced job. This Rick guy better hurry up so she could continue what she came here for.
-
The night fell pretty fast for Hannah and Maggie finally came in with Rick - and his son. She introduced them to the strange girl who looked extremely nervous upon the bed. She tried sitting up to shake their hands even though her body didn't allow it. Hannah looked at both of them worriedly but his son caught her attention - she remembered him as the boy who caught her when she was about to collapse outside of Alexandria.
"Rick." the leader said shaking her hand "And this is-"
"Carl." his son informed himself, dipping his head slightly. He didn't look like the friendly little angel from yesterday but who would with one eye missing?
"Hannah."

Rick asked three questions,
"How many walkers did you kill?"
"Don't keep track" and some
"How many people?" This was a tricky one.
"None." she lied. Obviously she was one hell of a liar since he didn't give her any lasting looks. Although, Hannah wouldn't mind him staring at her longer, he wasn't bad looking.
"Why?" dumb.
"Why not?" dumber.

Rick gave her no more commotion after those questions, he seemed to buy her little lie, though Carl sure as hell didn't. He wouldn't stop giving her these suspicious look as if he'd just found the walker that started this whole outbreak. She only looked back at him when she grew curious as to how his eye was gone - and to study how cool that he and his dad shared the same shade of blue in their irises. She didn't share the same with her father and she never looked at her mother's eyes.

They left some minutes later after a unsurprising compliment on her eyes and no word from Carl as he kept throwing daggers at her with his eyes.
Denise helped her off the bed carefully, aware that Hannah's body was covered in bruises. She didn't feel as much pain as she did this morning but she was still hurting.
"Here we go." Denise announced letting her go of her once they reached the showers. It felt nice to finally stand on her own. "If you need anything or something happens just yell,"
"I'm an injured teenager not a damn elder, I can handle a shower."
"O-okay then and also try not to use the hot water too much." Denise remarks, giggling at Hannah's happy reaction to hot water.

The greatness of the steamy water pushing off days of dirt and blood and rotten smells was nothing she could compare anything to. It was like being baptized again and she felt her head lean against the shower wall and left it there closing her eyes and enjoying a relaxation she most likely won't experience again. She thought about the mean glaring eye of Carl, how it felt like he could see into every dangerous secret she had but how sweetly she fell into his arms - damn I must be tired.
-
Getting out of the shower had been tough for her and Denise. Her doctor actually had to dragged her out and command her to stay in the room. She was laughing the whole time. She felt reborn. Hannah turned around facing her room and almost dropped the towel she had on. The only thing covering her body from the boy standing in front of her.
"What the hell Carl!?"
"Who are you?"
She was beginning to lose her temper already, this kid just sneaks in her room like this, probably knowing she'd be almost naked, then demands an answer to a dumb question.
"Get out. I swear to god if you don't-"
"You'll what? Kill the leader's son?"
"I'll call Denise over, and she'll tell your Dad you're sneaking into an nearly naked girl's room." he obviously didn't notice she had only a towel wrapped around her because his face flushed slightly but he still kept his angry look.
"So you'll 'tattle tale' on me?" he huffed. Hannah snorted at him and walked towards her bed.
Thank god Denise changed these sheets, she would rather sleep anywhere else but in those dirt rags.
She still felt Carl glaring at her like he could melt Hannah away if he focused hard enough. Maybe he just needed to know her a little more...
"Care to help me dress?" she smirked, glancing towards him trying to seduce him. He just bluntly asked another question, "Where did you come from?"
"That's classified." any personal information was for her, except her name now.
He shook his head.
"You're different than any other stranger that walked in here - more unknown."
She chuckled and glared at him in the one eye he has.
"Every single soul that you have met has more secrets than you'll ever count. You have some bizarre secret you wanna tell me? No? Neither do I." He gave her that same silence once more and crept closer and she kept her devilishly evil face.
"I will figure you out, Hannah." promised Carl.
She looked away and thought of a good eye pun that would throw off this weird mood and piss him off but unfortunately the door shut unexpectedly behind her leaving the room Carl-less. Hannah sighed, "And it was a good pun too."
