Chapter 10 - Where's Lu?!
** Dustin's POV **
I put the little ones to bed and ran back downstairs to go show Luanna to her room.
"Where's Luanna?" I asked Clara.
"Oh, you mean the girl that you brought out from the street?" What was she talking about?
"Clara, where is she?" I started getting angry. "She needed a place to stay. She had nowhere to go and she told me her story and I was helping her. Don't make me ask again, where is she?"
"She ran out crying." Clara said, bluntly.
"Why?" I tried to stay calm.
"I don't know." she said, slyly.
"Clara, what did you say to her?" I asked, losing my patience.
"I think my exact words were, 'I'm going to tell on Dustin. Dustin thinks he's in control and he's not. He doesn't even care about us anymore. Yet he cares about all these girls off the street.'"
I lost it.
"CLARA, HOW COULD YOU?! YOU KNOW VERY WELL I CARE ABOUT YOU! I DON'T THINK I'M IN CONTROL!" I shouted, my nostrils flaring.
I wanted to go look for her but, I had know idea where to look. We had just met and so I didn't know her well enough to know where she'd be. I sulked and sent Clara to her room. I made a mental note to spend more time with Clara and the kids.
I hope she'd be ok.
** Connor's POV **
~ Earlier that night ~
I stood right outside of the door, my eyes open so wide. Anna had a twin sister! I had another cousin!
"HOW COULD YOU?! HOW DARE YOU KEEP THAT FROM ME!" she screamed, her voice shaking the house.
"Luanna, we-" Dad tried to interrupt.
"NO," she cut Dad off, "NO EXCUSES! HOW DARE YOU!"
She took off out of the room. She saw me and ran straight out the front door.
"See, Charles! I told you to tell her! Now who knows where she's going to go!" Mom yelled at Dad.
"Tina, I'm sorry!" He called after her.
I looked at my watch, seven o' clock. Hopefully, she wouldn't be out too long.
About an hour later, Gina came home and peeked into the kitchen where I was stuffing my face and said, "Lu like wanted me to tell you, she's ok."
"Did you see her?!" I practically yelled.
"No, silly, she called. I'm going to bed. Night, bro."
"Night, G." I said.
I put my sandwich down and thought. Where in the world would she be? I decided I was going to wait another hour for her and if she didn't show up, I was going to sneak out and find her. Mom and Dad were up in their room talking.
I watched my clock tick and waited for the sound of the door to open and Luanna to waltz in and be ok.
Nine o' clock came and I grabbed two jackets and my keys and snuck into the garage. I got in my car and pulled out of the driveway.
'Where in the world could she be.' I thought to myself.
Then it hit me. Where would she go to be alone and to think? Our place!
