Chapter 2

*Katie's POV*

I look around as I sit down on the cold, black metal park bench. I smiled to myself, remembering all the fun times Kelly and I had in this park. We called this our fort, where we went to talk about anything and everything, but mostly about our daily abuse and bullying. Although we've both graduated now, school was rough for both of us, and coming home to abusing and drunk parents did not help.

I feel someone grab me from behind and cover my mouth to scream, and I start thrashing before they turn me around.

*Kelly's POV*

I've never seen such a relieved look on anyone's face until I pulled the kidnapping scare in Katie.

"Oh, it's you" she sighed in relief.

"Are we ready to go?" I say, full of excitement and hope for a new future.

She didn't hear me, she was looking down at her phone, with tears falling down her petite face.

"Is it Nathan?" I quietly ask. She doesn't even have to answer for me to know, I can just tell by the look on her face. "We're getting away from that." I tell her.

"He says he's coming to find me, and your parents have paid him to bring you back." she says with tears streaming down her face.

As soon as the news sank in, I grabbed her hand and ran. I heard loud footsteps behind us and turned around to face our follower.

"Think you could escape so easily," Nathan says ( Katie's abusive brother) "then you thought wrong. And I have quite the hefty price to bring you home, stupid bitch."

Before he could even say another word, we ran and ran until we couldn't anymore. We found ourselves in the suburbs of Doncaster, about 30 minutes from our home.

We flagged down a bright yellow cab, and threw ourselves onto the leather seats.

"To London please," Katie says.

"Ok ladies." the can driver replies.

I lean against the window, staring out at the houses, thinking of where we're going to go, and what we're going to do. Soon I grew tired from the running, and closed my eyes.
