I sneak through the doorway in the middle of the night. Glancing at my phone, I see it's 2:37 am. I am finally escaping this hell hole called my home.
Well I should probably start from the beginning, my name is Kelly and I am 17, one day away from being 18. My dad and my mom are abusive drunks who only come home to beat me. I only have two things that make my life worth living; singing/music, and Katie.
Katie is 18 and my best friend in the whole world. She's barely 19, so she's sort've my older sister, and she definitely looks after me like one. Her home is a lot like mine, except for her parents were killed, and her brother abuses her. Katie and I have been planning this for months. We've scrapped together enough cash to last us a month.
I creep my way through the living room, and touch the cold brass handle of my front door. "So this is it," I think, "no more abuse, and no more pain." I hear glass breaking upstairs, and take that as my cue to go. It's probably just my dad in one of his drunken rages.
I twist the handle slowly, and walk out into the crisp night air.
