It had been two years since Dallas left Britain to come and live with her dad in LA, to start again and to find peace.

As she lay beside Willa on their balcony looking up at the stars, Willa turned to her with a frown. "Dallas?" She asks quietly, not wanting to disturb the night.

"Yes?" Dallas replies, without the same worry. She knew it would take a lot more than her, one in millions, to disturb the force of the night. It was thick around them, holding them in place. Their only salvation was the stars, but even the stars were frozen in their stance.

"Do you regret leaving him without a proper goodbye?" She asks meekly. Dallas had been known for snapping at people. Not so much now that she'd been to therapy and had advice on how to manage her temper, but it was still a force of habit to worry.

"I used to," She tells her, rolling over to face her. Lying on her side, she smiles sadly. "But now not so much because now all I hope is that he found someone new who will love him like I can't."

"What do you mean? Anyone can love."

"Shut up, you're too young to know that. But, right now I'm too busy trying to love myself, to figure out how to look after myself. I don't have time to fall in love, you know? It would be lacking and not worth it, so I hope he's found someone who's got their life together who can invest themselves in him and he can invest himself in them without the slightest hint of worry that they're going to break his heart."

"Did you break his heart?"

"I like to think I didn't, but I can't be sure. I haven't spoken to him in years, Willa, but that boy has a big heart. He's got too much to give and unfortunately he gave it to the wrong person."

"I don't think you're the wrong person."

"I was back then. Maybe when I go back in a few years time I'll be just the right person."

"You want to go back?" Willa's voice squeaks.

"Of course I do, I have too many friends there to never go back," She says, wrapping her arms around Willa and pulling her little cousin close. "But for now I'm good here."
