It was two days until I saw her again. Anne Monroe stood at the foot of my door holding a bar of chocolate and some sort of drink. Her coffee coloured hair was in a loose bun and she looked absolutely spectacular in the simplest thing. A white singlet and track pants. She smiled and handed it to me as a thank you for helping her find the wifi password, which wasn't that hard I mean... Anyone can find it.
I stood facing her while holding the gift, "I'm guessing this is your way of saying thank you?" I ask smirking. She returns it with a small smile and nods, "I mean, if you don't want it I'll take it-"
I stop her, "No, it's a sweet gesture thank you. I mean, you didn't have to, I only found your wifi password."
She shakes her head, "Nah it's all good, you helped me and here's you repayment. I let the sexual harassment slide but-"
"Hey! I was complimenting you!" I reply laughing.
"If that was your compliments I'd hate to see you harass me." She smiles and turns away to walk back to her apartment. I look down and find that the drink is wine, and it looks pretty expensive at that.
"Hey Anne wait..." She turns around to look at me, "Do you want to come inside?" Anne looks as though she's thinking something through, "I've got wine... And chocolate."
A long moment passes before she nods in agreement and walks past me into my large apartment. "Woah." Is all she says as she examines my lounge room. I smile and gently brush her shoulder with my hand, "This is only my lounge room."
"Oh wow. It's so pretty." She says and I nod in agreement as I twist the cap off the bottle and pour two cups for the both of us.
"You're pretty princess." Anne walks over to me and sits on the chair in front of me.
"I would compliment you back but I don't know your name."
"Oh you still haven't figured it out?" I ask smirking and she just shakes her head, "Well princess, for your information it's Cameron Simmons. And I-"
"Sorry I have to go." She says all of a sudden her eye wide in surprise, I cock my head to the side, "But you just got here."
"I know and I'm sorry I just can't be here right now." Anne stands up and walks to the door she turns back for only a moment as if to say something but leaves before she does so.
I frown and look at the two cups of wine I poured to the both of us, "Well there goes that plan." And with that I drink her cup and my cup.
Still dumbfounded I return to my couch and resume reading the book I left on the floor. And like usual I fall asleep, unaware of all my surroundings and dream.
"MUM! DAD!" I scream as loudly as I can. They fall and look at each other before stealing a glance at me. I try and run to them but a pair of arms grab me from behind. A womanly voice fills my ears, "There's nothing you can do Callidora. It is their time."
I shake my head profusely, "No! I won't accept that. Demi please let me go!"
"You're young child. This is for the best." The woman named Demi says. She pulls me into her as I witness a tall man approach my parents laying vulnerable on the ground. Mum whimpers as the man grabs her arms and hauls her upwards. My dad reaches for her.
"NO! Take me! Take me please! She doesn't deserve it! I do!" He says and the tall man grabs him as well. As if he has super strength the tall man holds them up with ease.
His voice was not how I expected it to be, it was hollow and emotionless, cold as stone. I shivered with uneasiness as he spoke to my father, "Trent Selene, I sentence you to death for rebelling against the Coven and the murder of Carter Andrew. You and your wife shall be punished for your virtues."
"Demi! He's taking them away. We have to do something." I scream from the house. This had all taken place in the middle of the street. They were trying to make it back to me. To their five year old daughter.
"There's nothing we can do Callidora. They rebel. They die." She says calmly. I hated her. Why wasn't she doing anything? She was their closest friend! My godmother didn't do anything.
I turn to face her, "What's going to happen to me?"
"You'll be safe Cal. His majesty won't find you once we leave." She says hugging me tightly, "I made a promise to your mother and father that I'll keep you safe. So that's what I'll do."
I cry into her top as a man walks through with a young girl, "Cally!" She says running up to me. I let go of Demi and hug the little girl. She was my closest friend and I loved her to pieces. Now that mother and father are gone, I have only her.
"Daddy said we can look after you now! You'll be like my sister!" I smile and nod my head in agreement.
Suddenly five men break into the house, they look around for a moment before locking their sight on me, "THERE SHE IS! GRAB HER!"
I scream as I begin to run away. Demi pushes me behind her before the little girl and her father stand up to the men. They push them aside and reach for me.
I wake up with sweaty palms and someone beside me. I suddenly push myself upwards and push the person away, as if they were the one in my dream, "GO AWAY!" I scream loudly at her.
Then I focus on the person and its Anne. She looks worried, "Hey are you okay? I came back to apologise but you were asleep, and then you started screaming."
"Yeah I'm fine." I says pulling my knees up to my chest.
"Are you sure because-"
"I said I'm fine!" But honestly I wasn't. That dream felt so real but I know it wasn't, I look at Anne as her eyes widen in shock, "I'm sorry."
Her eyes soften as she reaches a hand up to tucks a stray strand of hair behind my ear, "Everyone has nightmares..." After a long moment she realises her hand was on my cheek and she moves it away, "Look I came back to apologise about leaving you earlier. It was rash and unexplainable."
I nod, "It kind of was."
She smiles and for a while we stay like that, just looking at each other. "So I'll be heading off now. Bye Cameron."
