THE NIGHT OF THE PARTICLE ACCELERATOR EXPLOSION

Sam held her coat collar up to the sides of her face. Central city was pouring and she probably missed her chance to watch the Particle Accelerator be activated, the cabbie thought he knew the fastest way to S.T.A.R. Labs. He was wrong. Now she was standing outside the lab trying her best not to freeze to death, and Sam wanted to live past 20.

"Hey, you need an umbrella?" Sam looked to her right and pursed her lips together, a tall man was holding out his umbrella, she held up her hands to protest, of course he insisted "You look cold, take it." She sighed and wrapped her scarf around her mouth, she shook her head urging him to keep it.

"No, no really, i'll just..." she opened her purse and looked at her wallet 'Of course i can't afford a cab..' Sam watched the man laugh as if he knew she was short, he handed her the umbrella and she smiled. "I promise I'll return it."

"There's no need. I can always buy another, keep it." The man smiled and he pulled out his phone, Sam smiled as she backed away from him and waved, and she was off.

As she was walking down the road she watched the cars move, they were rushed and most looked like they were late for something. She laughed and pulled her shoulders up as she gripped the handle closer to her. Sam was halfway to her apartment as she heard loud crack or a.. boom, instantly whipping her head around only to see a blinding yellow burst of light. It looked like it came from...

"Oh no. No no no!" She felt the rain pick up as she gripped the umbrella tightly and ran in the direction of the light, she watched as everything calm turned to havoc. Lighting hit the CCPD as well as peoples homes. The rain felt like hail as it hit her skin, she squinted her eyes and almost immediately she felt as though she was hit with a wave of some sort. Sam grabbed her chest and fell to her knees dropping the umbrella. Then everything went black.

PRESENT DAY
S.T.A.R. LABS

Cisco made he way through the halls of S.T.A.R. Labs, throwing his hands in the air "Dude, I'm up for saving people from burning buildings as much as the next guy, but you gotta be more careful." Cisco scolded stomping into the Cortex only to be greeted by Barry, in costume, marching back and forth from one side of the room to the other, hand on the bridge of his nose. Barry lifted his head as he heard the remarks Cisco made, he shook his head, laughing.

"I thought this is what we agreed on? Me using my powers to help people?" he said waving his hands. Barry paused and tilted his head, "Also i thought Caitlin did the scolding, you're not to good at it, by the way." Cisco breathed a sigh of relief as he grabbed one of the other man's shoulders, shaking them. The dark haired man basically threw himself into one of the swivel chairs and he smiled, "Thank God."

Holding his hands up in the air while spinning around, he turned back to Barry and pointed at him "'Cuz i did not wanna scold you man, Caitlin told me to if i got here before her." He concluded and Barry laughed, Cisco pulled himself up to the desk between the computers, tapping the table. "In other news..." he paused, making Barry raise an eyebrow in anticipation, "I met a girl."Cisco stated, grinning widely. Barry grabbed a swivel seat and immediately sat down causing the chair to spin a bit before pulling himself to the opposite side of Cisco and he rested his head on his hands like a school girl hearing gossip, he then made an 'Ooo'-ing sound. Cisco rolled his eyes.

"Where did you two lovebirds meet? Shes not like.. a evil meta-human or something right?" Barry squinted at the other man, "Because you have a thing for meta-humans, evil or otherwise." There was a silence, before the speedster broke it by clearing his throat. "But seriously, anyone i know?" Barry asked, now using his super speed to spin in his chair.

Cisco shrugged taking a sip of a coffee that was sitting next to him "I dunno, she said her name was Samantha." He then took a moment to pause and stick his tongue out; realizing it wasn't his coffee, as well at it was cold, "Know any Samanthas?-"

"Cisco! I told you to scold him, not tell him about your love life." Caitlin said as she walked into the cortex cutting Cisco off,s he then placed the bag she was carrying down next to her coffee; noticing it had moved, "Cisco.."

"Yyyyeah?" He said in a high pitched voice batting his eyes.

"Did you drink my coffee?"

"Pffsh! No."

The cortex went silent as Caitlin placed a hand on her hip and just stared at Cisco, scratching the side of her face, "Mmmhm..."

The speedster broke the awkward silence and continued the last conversation "Caitlin, i don't see whats wrong," He said, pausing to push his feet off the desk to stand up from his chair, "I saved an entire family from a burning building!" he smiled, feeling satisfied.

"You can't save people if you're dead, Barry." Caitlin sighed, "Harrison... may have been.. a killer, but he was right in telling you to caution restraint. Just please promise you'll be careful."

"I promise."

10 MONTHS AFTER THE EXPLOSION

Sam woke up in a cold sweat, gripping her chest. She looked down and spotted IVs connected to her arms, she looked around frantically in search for where she was. Sam watched as people wearing nurse outfits walked back and forth in a rushed pace, she calmed down.

"Hospital. Good, good."

Before she began to freak out again,Why was she in a hospital? What happened? she felt a hand on her chest pushing her down as she tried to pull herself up from the gurney, she felt as though she was chained to it, she began wheezing and coughing for air. The nurse spoke in an eerie voice.

"Wake up Miss Atwell."

Sam blinked her eyes open and took a large breathe taking in her surroundings, she was laying on her couch in her apartment. She sighed and smiled, pulling the covers back up to her nose.

'Just a dream...'
