It's basically the same as being a warrior training their warrior apprentice--just teaching different things.

It's really important to be kind to your apprentice, because being a medicine cat is harder--mentally than becoming a warrior. You must know all the herbs in your stock, when to get more, where to get more, and on top of that, you need to make sure your apprentice knows a few defense moves. I highly suggest that you start with helping your apprentice's personality.

Like in the previous chapter, a medicine cat should be kind. It helps others feel comfortable around you and they will be relaxed and put trust into you. Help your apprentice become kind and trustworthy! A good way to do this is constructive criticism--not harsh criticism. Your apprentice will feel needed and such.

When they start out, just explain the way you run things in the medicine den. Start by slowly explaining some of the herbs and what they do. Take it slow and steadily--not a rush, or else they won't remember anything. It's vital for your apprentice to know what herbs do what. Literally. A cat's life will depend on it!

Remember to take trips with your apprentice out of the territory. They should know how to navigate the territory like any other warrior, as well as know where the herb patch is to restock! Teach them how to cleanly pick the herbs, and make sure they know to leave herbs so that they can regrow.

All medicine cats must know how to defend themselves. Some people think that medicine cats just stay in their dens and know nothing about fighting, or that they're scared to fight. That is completely wrong. Medicine cats learn to protect and some days, make sure to take your apprentice out with a warrior to learn defense moves.

With proper training, your apprentice can become a strong medicine cat.
