You will find that it is extremely easy to do this. I mean, if you can't honor the fact that you're deputy, you probably shouldn't be role playing that position.
First off, you have to be active. If it's a really boring roleplay, I get it. But if it's remotely interesting, then maybe you should try to roleplay at least three to four times a week.
If not, you might be removed from your position, just since, well, a deputy has got to make decisions. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Honoring your role...you can't take it the wrong way, though. While the deputy is second in command, your power is very limited. Yes, you assign patrols, but no one can bow down to you and such. I mean, they can, but it's a roleplay, save that for the fanfics!
Just because you are deputy, it doesn't mean you should kill off the leader. I don't understand why people do this. Whether you are a good cat or an evil one, wouldn't you want to become a leader because you rightfully earned it? Honestly, my cat OCs would probably call them a "fake leader". Don't know about you, but it seems like it.
Don't abuse your power! Your leader is always in control, remember that. You can't make Clan decisions, except when your leader is sick. Your job is to be loyal, good or evil. Your time will come to rule your Clan.
