It was a normal day. I was on the bus, heading off to college like I do everyday. But today was different. Usually the bus is full of people, and today... It wasn't. I looked around. 3 people. There was literally 3 other people. Was it a holiday? Nah. I didn't understand. I started the day off like any other. I woke up and went for a jog... to the donut shop. I picked up a box full of glazed for my roommate, Katie and I. Once I got home, we sat on the couch, ate our donuts, drank our coffee and watched the weather. Then I got in the shower. After my shower, I got dressed in my usual "going to school, honestly don't care" outfit, aka T-shirt, blue jean shorts and converse. And then I headed off to the bus stop. So here I sit, on a bus with 3 other strangers. To keep myself from over-thinking I put in my headphones, and shut my eyes, leaning my head on the back of the seat. After a few minutes I felt a pair of eyes on me. I opened my eyes to see a curly haired boy staring at me, smirking.
"Caaaaan I help you?" I asked faking a smile.
"Nah. You just look cute when you're sleeping." he replied, wearing the same smirk.
"I wasn't sleeping, but thanks." I said, trying to play it cool.
He turned his head forward, and I looked him up and down. He was cute. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black basketball shorts. He was also wearing converse and he had his hair pushed back with a red bandana. I couldn't help but notice he had the most adorable British accent, and his eyes... Wow. They were the most beautiful shade of emerald green and I was pretty sure I wasn't the only girl who got lost in them. Moments later, my thoughts were interrupted by the same voice.
"Like what you see?" He replied smiling, not even looking at me. How in the world does he do that?
"Get off your high horse. I wasn't looking at you. I was looking... out the window." Wow. That was possibly the worst lie I've ever told. He began to laugh, and I turned my head, my cheeks beginning to burn.
"I'm Harry, by the way. And you are?" he asked, holding his hand out to shake mine.
"I'm Mackenzie. Nice to meet you." I replied smiling, grabbing his hand.
"Pleasures all mine." he said, kissing my hand. I felt my cheeks turn the brightest of reds as I pulled my hand back, smiling. I turned my head back forward, and put one of my earphones back in. And suddenly, Harry, I think that's his name, did the unexpected. He walked right over to my seat and sat down. So here we were, sitting a good 6 inches away from each other, when he asked "So what are you listening to?" He grabbed the ear phone that wasn't in my ear and put it in his. Wow, this kid sure wasn't shy, was he? The song I was listening to was "Marry Me" by Jason Derulo.
"Ooh, I love this song." he said. I smiled as he sat there with my earphone in, humming to the song. When the chorus came on, he caught my off guard by grabbing my hand, looking straight into my eyes and singing along.
"Will you marry me? I swear that I will mean it. I'll say will you marry me?" Oh my God. His voice was that of an angels. I couldn't help but laugh at his seriousness. He smiled and began dancing when the singer started with his 'Oh whoa oh whoa oh's', making me laugh even harder.
After the song ended, he took out his ear piece and began talking.
"So, Mack. Is it cool if I call you that?" I laughed and nodded, thinking it was cool he already gave me a nickname.
"Mack. Tell me about yourself."
"What do you want to know?" I asked.
"Anything." he replied smiling.
"Well, um, I'm from the states, but my parents agreed to let me go to college here if I got good grades all through high school. Um, I major in the arts. I currently do henna tattoos at the mall for a job. I love music. Yes, this is my natural hair color. My favorite food is pizza and if you buy it for me I'll instantly be yours. I haven't had a serious relationship in 2 years, and I like dudes with British accents. Your turn." I mumbled out. He sat there for a second and then laughed.
"Well, I'm from Worcestershire. I'm in a band with my 4 best mates. People say I'm a flirt, but I'm looking for the right girl. I haven't had a girlfriend in years, but I think that maybe soon I'll find the girl that's right for me." he said, smirking. I smiled, and tried to think of something to say. Before I could, the bus came to a stop and I was at school. I was majorly depressed it had to come so soon. I didn't want to leave Harry.
"Well, this is my stop." I said.
"Oh, how strange. Mine too." This made me smile. We both got up and exited the bus. Before walking to class, I turned to say goodbye to Harry, but he had already opened his mouth to speak.
"Well, Mack it was a pleasure getting to know you. I think we should totally hang out sometime."
"Yeah, I'd like that." I said smiling.
"Here, give me your phone." he said. I grabbed it out of my bag and handed it to him. He put his number in and handed it back to me.
"Now, give me yours. In case I want to talk to you before you want to talk to me." he said smirking. I put my number in his phone, and he smiled down at it as I handed it back to him.
"Well, I'll talk to you later then." He said and I nodded.
"Bye Mack!" he said walking backwards. I chuckled and waved back to him.
"Bye Harry!"
