| THE STAND:
CHAPTER FOURTEEN |"She's in my apartment?" Rhea asked out loud, the locator spell had worked fast. A sign that Leto wasn't interested in hiding her location.
"That can't be good." Ares mumbled, Rhea quickly disposed of the map and blade, as if they were never there. She sighed, looking in the direction of her apartment.
"We have to face her, don't we?"
Ares took in his sisters expression, she wasn't scared— quite the opposite, actually. He could tell, however, that recent events had started to take their toll on his sister, nothing seemed to phase her anymore.
"Come on, best we get this over with." The siblings began the short walk the Rhea's current living quarters, a blanket of silence enveloped them. It wasn't awkward, they were both too preoccupied with their own thoughts, their minds racing at a hundred miles an hour; trying to come up with an explanation as to why and how their mother was here.
It seemed as though time wasn't on their side, because they were outside of the apartment all too quickly, both of them hesitant to enter— scared of what they may find.
"Here goes." Rhea mumbled, taking the keys from underneath the plant pot, probably not the best place to keep it but she was sure that if anyone tried to burgle her— she could defend herself.
The tension was thick as soon as they entered the apartment, it was almost as if they could feel their mothers presence, the memories of their childhood resurfacing once more. It was when they stepped into the living room, that they heard footsteps.
They were instantly on their guard, standing merely an inch apart, the air became thick with the power running through their veins, just itching to be released.
"Oh, look at you both. Prepared to attack at any second, not even a simple hello for the woman who birthed you, raised you?" Her voice was enough to make the hair on the back of the siblings necks to raise.
"Clearly we have different definitions of what a good mother is." Ares hissed back, stepping slighting in front of his sister, shielding her with his own body.
"Now, now. I only came here for one thing and one thing only, then I'll be on my way." Their mother was in full view of them now, she hadn't changed a bit, her features as sharp as ever— the way she moved so sneakily, almost like a snake. They could tell, her intentions weren't good.
"No," Ares started, "Firstly, you can feel us how the hell you're here." He demanded answers, there was no logical way she could be standing in front of them.
