Melilla's POV

Right away I bowed my head. The strength that wrapped around her body like a cloak told me right there that she was Luna of this pack. My hands began to get sweaty and started to shake as she neared. My Luna was a monster of a woman to me. Images of her ran through my head.

"You little shit!" she stretched, grabbing the neck of my shirt. "You think you can sneak food for yourself?! You are a greedy pig! Nobody could love a fat waste of space like you!"

The shouting continued to go on for what seemed like years. The four year old me couldn't look anywhere but the kitchen floor. I couldn't understand why I was getting such harsh treatment. Why wasn't I allowed to eat with or like everyone else? I saw their heaping plates of meat, fruits, vegetables, and many other kinds of food. All of which I had made or helped make.

My mouth would water at the smell alone of the food but all I would receive were a few tiny pieces on a shredded napkin or paper towel. Even at my young age I knew I couldn't survive on that so I got good at sneaking something from the meals before they were sent out. This had been the first and only time that I was ever caught but the punishment was one of the worst that I can remember.

"Are you even listening?" she yelled, getting into my face.

I jerked back, her stinky, hot breath burning my eyes and nose. I didn't like her in my space. I was just hungry and all I wanted was to be left alone. I didn't do anything wrong.

"Please, I just wanted food." I pleaded with her.

"No body gives a rat's ass what you want. You have been told the rules over and over, you little brat. Now, I'm done being nice." she hissed at me.

Without warning she grabbed my arm, gripping it tightly. I tried to squirm away but it was no use. Her long nails dug deep into my skin causing it to break and blood to begin to drip out. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the Luna fiddle with a switch on the stove with her free hand then an open flame light. I gasped, the need of getting away from her became more demanding. Her grip only got tighter.

"Please! Please let me go!" I cried, begging. I had no clue what she planned to do to me but this was going farther than any beating I had received before. I continued to cry as she sneered down at me.

"You are nothing. You will never amount to anything. I would be doing this world a favor if I ended you right now." she said, each word adding another endless cut.

With that she dragged my arm over the flame. I screamed and cried, fighting her but her strength was ten times my own. After a few agonizing minutes I blacked out. I was never told what happened when I woke up but the Luna had a scar that ran from the side of her eye to where her heart was. The Luna's wound never heal and she didn't touch me in that manner again.

Gasps from everyone filled the room, making my head snap up. I saw Nellie rush to her mother, tears running down her face. I didn't like see that. I wanted her near me. A weird strangled sound filled the room. I didn't realize that it was me until I felt arms tighten around my small body and my head being placed into the crook between someone's shoulder and neck. When I felt the sparks I knew that it was Nicolas.

"Baby, calm down. Shh...you are alright. Nothing like that is ever going to happen to you again. Nellie and I won't let it." Nicolas said, quietly. His big hand rubbing my back in soothing circles.

I heard soft footsteps behind me before another set of arms wrapped tightly around me and a face buried into my back.

"I am so sorry you went through that, Melilla. They treated you so, so wrongly." Nellie said into my shoulder blade after kissing it.
