❤️Melilla's POV❤️

The room in front of me looked like a tornado blew through then threw up everything it picked up along the way. Children were everywhere...sitting, standing, running around, jumping off and on things, some were hitting and pushing while others were hiding. None of them saw us, they were in their own world.

"You better clean this shit up before Ms. James gets home, you worthless brat!" I heard an angry voice screeched from our left. It reminded me of how people talked to me when I was little. Right away my body shuddered but it was the reaction afterwards that shocked not only me but everyone in the room. A low growl left my throat and for the first time since I left my former pack my wolf stirred. I could feel her hackles rise up and my eyesight enhance more so than it was when my wolf was at rest.

After my wolf pushed me back, my body strode forward. I had no control over what was happening but I was sure that my wolf had her reasoning for acting as she was. Nearing a doorway into the kitchen, I could see that it was filled with appliances that were on the older side. Like the front room that we were just in this part of the house was very rundown and in need of some fixing up. You could see food stains on the walls and ceiling. Hearing a small cry fallowed by whimpering my wolf turned us towards the noise. A tiny young girl with curly blonde ringlets and light caramel skin. She stood a bit over two feet and looked no older than three. It wasn't until her big eyes flicked to the doorway and locked with my wolf's did I notice that she had one green eye and one blue. A loud smack came in contact with the little girl's face and rage filled me, my wolf, and my vampire. With a twitch of my wrist the boy flew and crashed into the table. The throw wasn't hard it was just to get him away from her. In seconds I had the little girl in my arms.

Tucking the little girl's head under mine and adjusting her on my hip I passed by the boy and in a the voice of my hybrid I said a few choice words. I wished no harm for anyone especially children without parents since I came from a similar background but hitting and yelling at this little girl had triggered something inside of me. Turning towards Johnathan I caught his eye expecting to see judgment but saw none.

"Changes need to be made and fast." I told him. "This is wrong. The living conditions for these children are poor and there is no one here to help care for them if this Ms. James steps out. They need help, supervision so no one gets hurt or bullied, and access to someone they can learn to talk to and trust."

"I agree with you, Melilla. This is unacceptable. I wish I had taken a look into this sooner. I had no idea it was like this." he said.

"Nellie, will you help me gather the children? We can settle them down for a movie. Nicolas, can you run back to the house and grab a box of popcorn from the pantry?" Jenna asked. Nellie and Nicolas shared a look before both kissing me on my head and doing as their sister asked. I watched as Nellie helped the boy who smacked the little girl I held up.

"Melilla," Johnathan said, gaining my attention. "I will be making changes to fix this home. Starting today. But I want your help to create a safe place for these children. I can see that you would be a good fit. The flying child across the room was a bit much but we'll work on that. I know how instinct works and we'll get you into training."

I nodded, "I-I would like that. I am sorry about throwing the boy. Molli had taken over and although I was just as mad to see the boy hit a little girl I don't like that he was thrown either. I will apologize for my actions to him."

Johnathan smiled, "I think that will be good for Arabella. And Colton needs to apologize too. Hitting anyone is wrong but doing so to someone so defenseless is unacceptable."

Arabella, Molli said in my head. I know this may seem off but she's ours. Or she could have been if our wolf mates accepted us. Like you, Arabella is different. We smell wolf on her but there's more. She has both witch and fairy blood running throughout her blood. Because of she is a hybrid with more than two species...her wolf will become an omega to balance her out. She is alone and will need guidance, stability, and love to help her on her on her path.

"I want her," I said aloud without meaning to. A gasp left my lips, my grip tightened on Arabella as her's did on me and my eyes met Johnathan's. "Alpha, please...I-I-I want to care for Arabella. Molli says we're connected a-and...and I am to help her. I w-would l-like to care for her."

Johnathan stares at me for a moment with a shocked expression on his face before he nodded, "I will talk with Ms. James when she returns on this. It has been a while since I have seen adoption papers for any of the children in this home. I think the last one I saw was when my father was training me to become alpha and we were helping a gay couple finalize things for a set of siblings. Before I do so...you need to speak with Nicolas and Nellie," he told me just as Nicky came back into the room.

"Speak to us about what?" Nicolas asked after starting a bag of popcorn in the microwave.

"I-I want to keep Arabella, N-Ni-Nicky." I said, scared that he wouldn't agree or he would get mad about me asking to do so.

"Nelli!" Nicolas called for our mate.

I shuddered and casted my eyes downward, unable to meet anyone's eyes. My palms began to sweat and my blood rushed.

"Is the popcorn ready, Nic?" Nellie asked, stepping into the room and looking through the cabinets until she found a stack of plastic cups.

"Almost," he said looking at the timer, "but that isn't what I called you over for."

"What is it then?"

"Our mate wants to keep Arabella," Nic started slowly, "What do you think?"

The room was quiet. If it weren't for the movie that was playing in the other room there wouldn't be a sound in the house. My eye were still trained on the floor and my body shook. The child in my arms lifted her head and slowly reached for me. Her tiny fingers touched my cheek and I shuddered from the contact. Instantly, my eyes flew to her and I met hers. They were soft and full of understanding. Right away I knew that I wasn't the only one who had gone through hell. Images that weren't my own flashed through my mind and a strangled cry left my lips.

"Melilla!" gasped Nellie as she caught us.

"Please, please, please," I pleaded to them. "I can't leave her. I can't!"

"Shh...shh..." Nellie whispered to me. "She's ours."
