A Very Snumbledore Christmas... (Complete)

AVSC - Pt 1

Severus sat at the staff table, it was just any other breakfast in the great hall to him
He felt eyes burning into his soul. He scanned the room to find the culprit but he never found who he was looking for.
And that's because that person was only a few seats down from him, on the staff table... The one place he hadn't thought to look

The day passed slowly, it just seemed to drag on. Severus was at his wits end grading the 3rd years papers and decided to go for a walk.
He wasn't far outside the castle entrance when he heard a voice behind him
"Aahh! Severus just the man I wanted to see!" Albus Dumbledore said with a smile
"Albus, what is it that you wish to discuss?" Severus asked curiously
"I wanted to talk to you about the upcoming Yule Ball, is there any chance you could come to my office tomorrow evening after dinner?" The old man smiled
"Of course Albus, I will be there" Severus nodded and the old man with the long white beard disappeared

There was something strange about Albus Dumbledore. He always seemed to be there for Severus, he always had his back. Severus thought back to a moment they had a few years before.
Albus comforting him as Severus broke down in tears, he was upset because he just found out Harry Potter was going to attend Hogwarts. It was like a knife to his heart and it was enough to break him.
Albus took his hand in his and stroked it gently, for a moment their eyes met and it felt as if there was something there. But the moment ended promptly when Minerva knocked at the headmasters office door.

'This cannot have happened' Severus thought to himself, 'we can't have had a moment'
No, Severus managed to convince himself it was mind playing tricks on him
He had read too much into the situation, if Albus really did have feelings for him he would have shown him by now.

Albus however had no idea of Severus' thoughts and feelings towards him. And in honesty he was rather saddened by his lack of interest. See, Albus always knew Severus was into both sexes
But Severus couldn't see it, or refused to.

The way he used to look at Remus back in school. Even when he and his friends would torment Severus, he still had an obvious crush on him. Of course he had a bigger crush on Lily but that doesn't mean his feelings for Remus didn't exist. They certainly did. Albus couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy.
