Matt's POV:
We get to the hospital and she is immediately rushed into the emergency room. They tell me she is in good hands but I won't believe it until she is awake in my arms. I need her to be safe. I need her with me. She is my everything. I go to the seats and sit down to calm myself.I call everyone that I thought should know. That only consisted of all her close friends considering her dad doesn't care. They all rush into the waiting room in less than twenty minutes. All the girls are crying as the guys comfort them. I stare blankly at the wall and wonder why she was walking to my house. She would have normally called me to pick her up. Then I realised that she had been with Sammy. I call him and ask him what happened.
"Hey bro, it's Matt. I was wondering. Weren't you and Jacey hanging out today?"
"Yeah. We were talking after some ice cream and I kissed her. We agreed that we didn't feel anything. Then she looked deep in thought for a moment. She started running towards her house telling me that she had to do something."
"Okay man. Thanks. I just wanted you to know that she is in the hospital right now and you are welcome to come over."
"For sure. I'll be down in five."
We hang up and I see the police down the hall. The same police who were at Jacey's accident. I walked towards them and ask them what had happened. Apparently, the driver of the vehicle was texting. They were driving while distracted. I ask them who it was and the person was confirmed to be Cindy.
I felt immense anger and heartbreak. I was looking at the message that was sent that made her hit Jacey. My Jacey is in there cause of her stupid texting habits. They give me some things that were at the crash site that belong to Jacey. I turn around and walk to the seats again. I put my head in my hands and look at the things again. It was her journal and guitar. Why would she need these?
After I don't even know how many hours, the doctor had come out of the operating room. I rushed over as did the others. He begins to tell us that she is fine. Nothing had gone wrong throughout the whole operation. We all just needed for her to wake up. But only one person was allowed to watch over her until she woke up.
Everybody looked at me and I automatically accepted. I needed to be near her and they all knew that. I walk into the room that they had transferred her to and sat by her side. I held her hand and waited. I waited for about an hour until her eyes fluttered open.
"Hey Jay. Baby, don't move too much."
"Can I get water?"
I give her some water.
"What happened, Matt?"
"Babe, you were hit by a car while heading to my house. Why didn't you call me? I could've picked you up."
"I had to tell you something important. I had to sing you something. I couldn't wait. All the adrenaline got to me and I couldn't stop until I was in front of you."
"Well why don't you just tell me then. We are here now."
"Okay. Matt, I am in love with you. I realize that I have been since we were thirteen. It was the day you saved me and the day we had our first kiss with each other. You saved me from the ledge. I fell for you. I wanted to tell you but you were with Cindy the next day."
"Oh, I am so sorry baby. If I had known you felt the same as I did, I would have never said yes to her. I thought you would have rejected me after the kiss. So I said yes to her. Baby, I am in love with you too. I have been since we were thirteen."
I lean into her and felt her lips against mine. It felt exactly like it did when we were thirteen. I felt the sparks and the butterflies. I pulled away.
"Jacey, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes. A million times yes."
