Link's P.O.V

I chose to ignore Malo's comment as I took Sheik's arm. She was quite beautiful and there was just something about her that drew me to her. She seemed so familiar but I don't remember ever meeting her.

"So tell me about yourself." I demanded.

Sheik paused for a moment. She seemed unsure of herself for a moment.

"Maybe I should narrow down the questions?" I joked.

"Perhaps that would be easier." She stated before unraveling her arm from mine.

I couldn't help but feel disappointed. She had distanced herself from me, and here I was thinking we were getting somewhere.

"Okay what's your favorite color?" I questioned.

"Blue." Sheik stated instantly.

"And yours?" She quickly added.

"Green." I answered.

The conversation between us was rather awkward at first. Sheik appeared distant and that she did not want to talk. I tried my best not to push her but I wanted to know so much more about her.

"What do you think of Ordon so far?" I asked.

"Its very nice and quiet here." She answered.

"That it is, it can get very boring here actually. I would do anything to get out of here." I stated.

"You want to leave?" She inquired.

Yes...No....I don't know. I just feel like I don't belong here. I feel like there's something else I am meant to do." I explained.

"I can understand that feeling." Sheik sighed.

"You do?" I asked.

I was surprised by her response. Every time I brought up this conversation with someone else in Ordon they all just blew me off.

"Just wait till you find a sweet girl and settle down. I'm sure you'll find your purpose then." I remember Mayor Bo had told me.

I had always respected the man but sometimes it felt like he wanted nothing more then for me to marry his daughter Ilia, whom I had no interest in what so ever.

"I do. I also feel like I am meant to do something so much bigger than this, I just haven't figured out what yet. Perhaps destiny will lead me on a path and my life will be realized soon." She explained.

She had spoken such wise words. Sheik appeared the same age as me but the way she spoke, and thought made her appear much older than myself.

"You don't think you should try to find out your purpose?" I asked.

"If I truly am meant for a purpose the time will come. Patience is something we all must learn so when the time does come and we are needed, we are ready." She explained .

"Such wise words." I chuckled.

"I'm sorry." She quickly apologized.

She appeared embarrassed by my comment and instantly distanced herself again.

"No don't apologize! You're quite fascinating actually, people around here don't talk like that. You've really opened my eyes." I tried.

She smiled softly at me before gesturing towards the house on the hill.

"Perhaps I should return so my cousin does not worry about me. Thank you for walking with me." Sheik thanked.

"It was my pleasure." I said with a slight bow.

Sheik giggled in response and bowed in return.

"Do you think we could do this again?" I asked.

"I would love that." She answered.

I couldn't help but smile at her as she retreated back into the house.

Sheik was something else entirely. In just the few moments we spoke she seemed to understand me more t anyone else here in Ordon.

Life here was too simple for me. I craved for adventure, to see the world, to work towards something greater.

I didn't belong here in Ordon as a ranch hand, this I knew, but I felt somehow stuck here. Like even if i tried something would always bring me back.

"Link!" A voice called.

I quickly turned to see that it was Ilia, Mayor Bo's daughter.

"Ilia." I stated flatly.

"I haven't seen you all day. I thought you were going to stop by for lunch after working on the ranch today?" Ilia inquired.

"Yeah sorry something came up." I sighed.

"Like what?" She demanded.

She stared at me with anger in her eyes. Her hand rested on her hip as she waited for a real explanation.

"I just wasn't hungry." I lied.

"You were with Uli's cousin." She practically spat.

"Now where did you hear that?" I asked.

"The children told me Link!" She exclaimed.

"She didn't know the way back and I offered to walk her there! I was just being polite. Besides why does it matter to you?" I questioned.

"Link you know very well that we are going to be married eventually." Ilia answered.

"Ilia we aren't having this conversation right now." I groaned through gritted teeth.

"Link..." She trailed.

"Ilia I said enough! I already told you how I felt there's no changing my mind, please enough is enough." I sighed as I turned to walk away.

"But Link!" She tried but I continued to walk away.

She had nothing left to say and I did not have the patience to listen. Ilia was persistent and I knew this would not be the last time I would hear of that. In the past Ilia and I were together. She was far more involved than I was in the relationship. I did not feel the same as she did and quickly broke it off before it went too far. She was heart broken, but that didn't stop her from trying to involve herself into my life.
