Detention

It's been weeks since the whole Hothead kiss thing, and let me tell you, it has not been an easy few weeks.

If we were dating, I would've dumped his ass by now.

Everywhere I go, if he's there, it's fuckin go time. I've been dodging fireballs, I've been insulted, I've been sent out of class for arguing with him. I don't understand what happened? I thought we were on the borderline of being friends.

I was in Hero prep at present, and Mr Medulla was explaining something about dependency during a fight. I wasn't really listening, I was on edge. I hadn't seen Peace in a while and honestly it was making me nervous, like he was gonna pop out of nowhere and set me on fire.

Just as I thought those words, he stumbled into class, Principal Powers behind him. "Apologies Mr Medulla, this one was trying to truant your class." Mr Medulla raised an eyebrow and pointed to a seat in front of me. Peace groaned, and dragged his feet the whole way there.

I scoffed, muttering under my breath "Drama queen." He froze, turning minutely in his seat as Mr Medulla continued speaking, before turning back.

I was glaring daggers into his stupid leather jacket when I suddenly straightened up. He couldn't get angry at me in class, not when it was this quiet. "Hey, psst, Hothead." He stiffened a little but didn't acknowledge my whisper otherwise. "Look, I don't know what your problem is, but you need to stop."

I watched as he scribbled something on a piece of paper before throwing it under his arm onto my table. I eagerly opened it, this might actually be the first contact we've had in over a month.

You're my problem.

I sucked in a little breath. More offended than anything else.

"What did I do?"

More scribbling, another note.

What didn't you do? You used my reputation to scare off another guy. Thanks.

I scoffed, screwing that one up.

"Right, like I need your reputation, people are just as scared of me."

More scribbling.

They're not scared of you. They just think you're a bitch. They're right.

Oh that is it.

I didn't bother responding. I fired a jet of water at the back of his head unapologetically. He turned slowly, his hair dripping into his eyes - which by the way, if looks could kill... well. I ducked as he jumped out of his chair and started launching fireballs at me, running to the other side of the room with a bubble of water around me.

I sent another stream at him, soaking his entire body but found myself backed into a corner. People were shouting. Peace was walking towards me. I shot another jet and knocked him back far enough that I could run past him and into the hall. I didn't stop.

I heard his footsteps behind me and felt the heat from the fireballs he was throwing. I glanced back at him and waved a hand, making it rain just in front of him, and I heard more than saw him slip. Laughing to myself, I turned the corner and slammed right into Miss Powers.

The fact that I had a grin on my face and Peace was sliding around the corner at the same time soaking wet probably didn't bode well.

Well fuck.

"You're to stay in here until the end of the day." I grimaced, nodding and slouching over to a desk.

Once again I find myself in the detention room.  The door slid shut and I heard Peace shuffle in his seat.

As soon as the door slid shut I went over to it and tried to open it, they'd taken the keyhole out so I couldn't open it. Bitches.

"Great, I'm stuck in here, with you." Peace looked at me, his eyes practically covered by his eyebrows with the frown he was giving me.

"Like I want to be in here with you." I groaned, walking around the room. "Can you stop?"

"What're you going to do? Not like you have your powers in here!" Peace stood, attempting to be threatening but I stood my ground. "You can't do a thing." He walked closer, and it took everything in me not to back away.

He looked at me, glancing up and down and I smirked. "Like what you see?" He raised an eyebrow, smirking right back.

"Nah, bitch isn't my type." And that was it. That one word, and I launched myself at him, sending us both tumbling to the ground.

"I don't need my power to fight you Peace, I swear to god!" I was straddling him and trying to hit him but he had hold of my wrists and was trying to get me off of him. "Let me go!"

"So you can hit me?! I don't... think... so... nnrgh!" He shoved and rolled so he was pinning me down, I still tried to hit him but he had my arms pinned either side of my head, my chest heaving.

"You're a dick, Peace! You torture me for months! And for what reason, nothing!" He raised an eyebrow, settling his weight evenly so he was literally sat on me. We were both breathing heavily. "Get off."

"Are you going to hit me?"

Yes. "No."

"I don't believe you."

You shouldn't. "Well you should."

"That's not happening." I struggled for a little while before I gave up. I laid there, waiting for a small lapse, which he gave me when he tried to shift his weight. I shoved and suddenly I was the one with the power.

"HA!" Peace smirked, and sat up, and suddenly the positioning became very very intimate. I was straddling his hips, which literally put me in his lap, and our faces inches from each other. I glanced at him, and saw him lick his lips. Suddenly, I understood. "Oh my god. Is that was this is about? Are you butthurt?"

Peaces face went stony and he practically shoved me off of him, I stood and walked towards him. "It is! What did you think was going to happen? It was just a kiss."

"Whatever, Duke. Stay away from me." I rolled my eyes, following him as he stalked to his seat.

"Please, you've been acting like I killed your dog or something, this was all because I kissed you?" He ignored me, pointedly turning so he had his back to me. I huffed, throwing my arms up and stomping to my own seat. "Fine, I just wanted to be friends with you."

"Like I'd ever be friends with you, Duke." I groaned, slamming my head down on the table.

This was going to be a long day.
