#43 Absence

He opens his window at night
to engulf the city air and its silence
he peeks at the on and off of lights
at the shadows behind curtains
at the empty sky, from the twentieth floor
which is neither too low
nor too high
for dreams
thinking of unwanted lives
yearning another place.

He lives in consolation
that he is not alone,
for everyone is obsessed with
an absence;
This unwanted life
is probably an on and off of lights too,
just another shadow behind curtains
for another one
peeking at her window
engulfed too by this city air
and its silence.

And so he sleeps half the bed
from the twentieth floor
which is neither too low
nor too high
for his childhood dreams
thinking of this life
he didn't want
yearning another place.
