#29 Street Boy

Without a shirt
you came
asking for a coin
showing dirty hands.

I rejected you
thinking of greater good.

You kicked me
with your thin legs,
I just thought of
your food in trash bins,
streetsmart words,
and endless pleading eyes.

You ran away
to the maze of vehicles
probably cursing me
--- a greedy stranger
who wont give you coins.

And I just shook my head
thinking,
was someone like you
like this
for a greater good.

And was someone like me
like this,
for a noble deed
or we just dont understand
street children
or how things really work
like hunger and greed.
