The warm shower was what I needed after a day of training. As the water beat down on my shoulders, I allowed myself a second to think, brushing my fingers through my hair. I was still thinking about Nova, and her tie to everything, when there was a knock on the bathroom door.
"Star?" Cecily called out, trying to wiggle at the door knob.
In the shower, I told her through the link, closing my eyes once again.
She started to knock again, and for the first time in the last few months, I was getting irritated. "What do you want?" I growled out, shutting the water off.
Instead of answering, she continued to knock. I wrapped the towel around my body and flung the door open, ready to tear into her, when I stood face to face with Sam, both of our faces heating up.
"Oh, my god," I whispered, embarrassed, as he slapped a hand over his eyes.
"As beautiful as you are, and as much as I would love to see more, I am a gentleman. I will be outside of your door."
"Wait!"
I grabbed his arm with my hand, surprising the both of us. Sam turned to look at me, not looking passed my eyes. He tilted his head, confused, before dropping his hand. "Yes, Star?"
"You don't have to leave," I whispered. "Just let me get dressed."
At Sam's nod, he smiled at me before closing the bathroom door, leaving me to myself. I continued to feel the heat in my face as I got dressed, pulling up my panties and applying the lotion on my legs. I could hear Sam pacing in my room, and I quickly pulled on my shorts and my shirt, opening the door slowly.
Sam stood with his back to me, holding a photo in his hand and smiling to himself. Not saying anything, I watched him continue to look at it before he put it back down on the shelf, staring out of the window.
"What did you want?" I asked, leaning against the doorway.
Sam's gaze moved over to me before they started trailing up my legs, a noticeable blush on his face. I looked at him with a playful smirk on my face, closing the distance between us. "Is someone distracted?" I teased at him, watching his eyes move up to my own.
"A bit," he replied, his voice deeper. "However, I know how to restrain myself. I wanted to ask you to go on a date with me today, Star."
As I stared at him, I frowned, confused, as he held his hand up to stop me from speaking.
"I would really like to take you out and show you what it's like to be treated like a princess."
I laughed. "I was just going to ask you why."
As he started to blush, Sam took his fingers through his hair slowly, looking up at the ceiling. "Because I have a small crush on you, and I would like to see where it goes."
The vibe that rolled off of Sam had me smiling to myself in a goofy manner, a large grin plastered on my face. "I'd love to, then."
Sam looked down at me and smiled, his hair falling over his eyes. "All right then, Star. I will be ready to have our date after lunch if that's okay with you?"
At my nod, his smile only widened and he lowered his head, kissing my cheek. Waving goodbye, I was left alone in my room with my heart hammering in my chest, a blush wide on my face. Sitting on my bed for a few minutes, I waited until the blush was gone and my heart had settled to a normal beat before I stood and slipped on my shoes, heading downstairs.
My pack was loud and laughing when I stepped downstairs, Cecily turning to look at me with a large smile on her face. "Garrett just told us! Have you heard?"
