Chapter 5

Kaze's Pov

I stormed through the halls to Merlin's room, banging the door open, not caring if I disturbed him.

"Merlin, I need answers! It has been 2 months since I arrived here, Lin has already comeback but I know she's hiding something from me. Don't even think of lying at this point, I knew that she has talked to you immediately after coming back and she has been distant to me ever since then!" I demanded glaring at him.

He remained silent.

"I can't tell you, not just yet" he answered. I huffed, I was already frustrated and to be honest that was the last straw, he had kept me in the dark for too long already and I can't just let this one pass like I did the rest.

"Merlin, I am not a child and frankly I'm tired of this bullshit you are putting me through. So tell me right now or I will find the answers myself and that means I will go and find someone who can, I'm sure the people of Avalon has just the answers I am looking for" I threatened, he has been trying his best to keep me in the dark that what I may find must be very important that I don't find out about it.

"Lady Kaze, please understand that-"

"I'm sorry Merlin but this has gone for too long. Don't look for me" I said turning and immediately went out, ignoring Merlin's calls. I knew that Merlin wouldn't give me the answers I wanted to I prepared my horse along with some supplies for my journey on the stables and that's where I directly went. I was gone by sunset and is in considerable distance from Camelot that they would be having trouble looking for me. I don't really intend to go and look for the answers instead I just had to disappear for a while to clear my head and spy on Rome. I overheard the discussion between Arthur and the other Knights about Gestalt and Rome being their enemy. We were clue less of their tactics and machinations and we had to have a spy to go and gather information that will help us to better prepare ourselves against them.I know that they would object me spying at Rome saying it would be dangerous, I knew that, that is why I had to create a diversion, they would be going to Avalon and scouring the Kingdom while I would be in Rome. And hey I do really need to get way for a little while.

It had been three weeks since I arrived in Rome and I managed to infiltrate Gestalt's dark estate as a cook and maid, the perfect cover to stay out of Gestalt's sight but freely roam the halls. I had mapped out the area quite well, all the entrances, exits and other exit routes I can take when it is time to flee. I also found out that he has a dungeon below the estate, no surprise there. Oh and, he's a total hunk in that mysterious and dark kind of way.

"Miss Morgiana, the Duke ordered for some food to be brought in the dungeon" a maid told me. Morgiana was the alias I took for the spy mission thingy. I nodded and set on putting food on the tray. Fastening my mask, a necessity for the maids that are going to be bringing food for a prisoner. The prisoner is a girl judging the body language even with her head covered with a sack and if my observations are correct, it should be my idiotic baby cousin.

The guards stationed outside the door opened the door and I slid the food tray in front of her.

"Help me, please" she pleaded but I ignored it and went out immediately. I need a full proof plan if I wanted to get her out of here safe ,along with myself. I had interfered with many of the duke's schemes against Camelot that he is no doubt thinking of a spy among the ranks. I had sent a messenger dove secretly to Kier asking of Arthur's plans on rescuing Lin.

"You there!" I heard a deep voice ask me. I turned around slowly,grateful of the mask I was still wearing.

"Yes, my lord?" I ask

"Have you finished delivering food to the prisoner?" he asked eyeing me curiously.

'Oh God, please keep this Duke from hurting my cousin' I thought.

"Yes, I have my lord"

"Very well, I want you in my chamber tonight" he said startling me.

"My lord?"

"You are a maid hired to answer to my beck and call. I want you to satisfy me in my chambers tonight or I will have your head, wench" he said then walked away.

'Well shit' I thought. 'Arthur better come rescue Lin tonight' and thankfully the messenger bird came back saying that they will arrive here tonight. I had prepared all my things along with my horse for easier escape. I was near the dungeon when chaos erupted and the guards outside the dungeon left their post and I took that opportunity to get Lin.

"Lin!" I called as I opened the door.

"Kaze-nee!" she shouted in delight. I unchained her feet and we ran outside. I had to fight off the Duke's lackeys who got in our way seeing as Lin doesn't have her bow with her. She almost got injured.

"Lin,duck!" i shouted and threw a knife at the guy wanting to hurt her. "Come on!" I told her as I grabbed her arms and we ran to where Arthur was.

"Arthur!" Lin cried and blindingly ran to her lover failing to realize that there were archers up the balcony aiming at her.

"Lin!" I cried and ran to cover her the next thing I knew was pain then darkness.

Merlin's Pov

I was beyond worried when Arthur and the others came home with a heavily injured Kaze. I quickly ran to her, carrying her in my arms going to my room to tend to her wounds ignoring the startled and confused looks I got. Once I was satisfied that I had dressed and cleaned her wounds entirely I plopped down beside her taking hold of her hand.

"You stubborn,selfless idiot" I muttered,sighing deeply. I had tried to get a vision of her these past weeks and when I finally had one, it's of her being shot by arrows protecting Lin. I have been ignoring how I felt for this girl for the past months, ignoring how delighted I would become when she comes to talk to me in my room for no reason, how she looks so angelic while sitting in the flower fields reading to young Kier fondly, how my heart clenched painfully when she stormed to my room demanding for answers I am too afraid to tell her as I know it would hurt her and now seeing her like this, so weak and pale, it breaks my heart.
