Busy Cowboy

Its been a few days since the bonfire and its about 5 days till christmas, i hadn't seen brooks for a few days. He's always out doing unnecessary cattle work or fencing or something else like that. I let it all slide, not wanting to loose him. I was his first girl friend and he is my first boy friend so I suppose he's just getting use to the whole idea.

" Audrey! Lunch,'" Yelled Joe's girlfriend. they had met while Brooks and i were at the bonfire. Her name is Sarah, She was really nice and she seemed to be genuine. she was a pretty Red head with green eyes and she had farmers tan. She's not afraid of hard work.

" Coming Sarah," I called back.

I make my way down to the kitchen and notice the boys sitting at the table their hats hanging on the back of their chairs digging into the lunch Sarah had made.

"Hello,stranger," I said hitting Brooks shoulder.

He just looked up and smiled.

"later do you want to go for a ride?" I asked walking over the bench get me some lunch of devilled sausages and rice.

" Um sorry Darlin I've got to work." Was all he said and went back to eating.

"Tomorrow?" I asked

" I can't Audrey I have to work,"' He said a little to roughly. He seemed a little pissed. Didn't know why.

"Okay then," I said sitting down.

I ate in silence. half way though the boys left and just walked out, Brooks with out saying bye. Ouch that hurt a little.

Sarah and I cleaned up from lunch and then I went out to the stables and saddled up mocha and headed out to the arena and started doing circle work and then slowly made my way up to the barrels.

When i finished the barrels I heard a voice and looked over to see Sarah clapping.

"Your pretty fast an't you,"

I ride over to the fence, " I guess so," I shrugged

"Hey I'm goin into town, you wanna come?" she asked

"Sure," I said, "I'll be over in a minute," and with that i head off to the barn and untack.

it tacks me 15 minuets and I'm back at the house. "I'm ready Sarah," I shouted as i enter he house.

"Be right down," she replied, and not to long after she came down and before i new it we were heading down the drive.

It takes an hour to make it into town and I found Sarah's lolly stash in her car and we listened to country music the whole way down until chloe interrupted the silence.

"So whats up with you and Brooks?"

"Oh umm i don't no ask him he seem to no exacticaly what wrong while leaving me clueless," I said crossing my arms over my chest, " I haven't really seen him all week, and I mean he's the one who told everyone that we were going out so i just don't know,'' I ramble on.

By now we had parked and we were sitting out side off the shopping centre.

A tear rolled down my check. I really wanted Brooks and I to work. I had ever had a boyfriend before and he was every ting that i could ever want in a boyfriend. He was country and where I live you don't get very many of those.

Noticing my tears Sarah pulled me in for a hug and wiped the tears away. "I have an idea, you go and buy your self some nice cloths and when we get home you get dressed and I'll go find brooks and I will drive you into town and you can go and see a movie, hey how does that sound?''

I wiped the fresh tears away and nodded.

We went to shops like R.M Williams, Wrangler and so on. My mum had given me a credit card before i came with about $2500, you see I don't get paid for chores but mum puts the money I ern into my account.

So I bought a new pair of Ariat's and a nice Wrangler button down show shirt which was light blue with dark blue checkers and red stitched horse siluett and buttons. I also bought a pair of Wranger jeans with domintied W's on the pockets and a long horn belt buckle.

After that we went grocery shopping - the original purpose of the trip. I got lollies and chocolate for the movie. At about 3:30 we left the shopping centre and checked the movie times. The Hobbit Part 2 was playing at 8 so we pre bought 2 tickets and we were heading home.

It was 4:45 and I packed away all the groceries while Sarah went to find Brooks. I was feeling a little giddy about tonight. After everything was packed away I ran up to my room with my new clothes. I chucked them on the bed and then ran to the bathroom and had a quick shower. It was 5:45 when I started getting dressed.

I curled me hair and pulled the hair in my face back in a 5 piece plat and I was about to start putting make up on-i no make up on me is hard to come by but i wanted to look nice- when i heard a door slam and angry mumbling closely followed.

"Hiding from your own girlfriend out with those cattle was bound to come to an end soon brooks so its time you pulled your head out of you ass and paid some attention!" I heard Sarah yell.

Sarah was right, he was being selfish and needed to pul his head in. if tonight didn't work then we are going to be over.
