To be honest I don't remember it ever being Christmas Eve, I just woke up to the scream of Sarah in my ear, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!".
We ended up coming home last night instead of staying, Hayley was a bit to drunk and by the time we headed back I was practically sober, so I drove.
I also found out how much it sucks to have a hang over after Wyatt's birthday. I passes it of as stomach bug to Joe, and I usually wear sunglasses any way so it was just left, though I think that Sarah was not fooled. Brooks' still walking around with a heavily bruised jaw, courtesy of me. He just told Joe he got kicked by one of the steers we were halter breaking for the show. To top it off I still haven't called Dustin.
Mum had sent my presents up because she was still working. I had bought present for everyone, yes including Brooks, when I went shopping with Hayley.
We sat down for a traditional christmas breakfast of ham from the leg and eggs.
After we sat around the very small tree.
Off mum I got the first 3 season if the new Dr Who, TARDIS phone case and a new dress, that I will never wear.
Everyone else opened there presents then it was back to work.
I was out with the horses and a little poddy calf that had lost its mum after she died. I could never cope I don't think if I lost my mum, she's the only parent I had left.
Any way back to being happy. I poured the warm water in to a bucket and mixed in the powder. I added a dollop of oil and grabbed bottle.
I walked in to the stable that housed the little heifer, the belted galloway came running at me and started bunting the back of my leg.
"Come here Darlin', your not going to get any milk from back there," I cued, guiding her mouth the the teat of the bottle.
My uncle mainly ran black Angus cattle but I remember once when I was 5 I think it was, Joe, mum and I went to the sales in Singleton and there was the cutes Mini belted galloway Heifer and mum begged Joe to get it. So he got it, she recently passed away. Sestrum. So I get to look after her newest calf.
I called her Peppermint or Pep for short. Don't know why but its the first thing that popped in to me head when I saw her.
After I bottle fed her I slipped a cattle halter on her and started leading her around every where with me, She came with me every where.
At about 10, I got a call from Dustin asking if I could go out with him somewhere, I said sure but I have to bring Pep.
He said he would pick me up at 4 this arvo.
The day passed quickly and I rode Mocha and did some cattle work with Brooks, there was not much talking involved. You could tell he was hung over, and so was I so I can't really say much in that department.
I just trotted out of the cattle yards with Pep on my tail, after drafting the calves from their mothers, when a metallic Silver Chevy Silverado pulled up in the Drive way. My jaw dropped, my dream car.
You tend not to see many of these cars around this area, or any were for that matter.
Then Dustin steps out. I canter over to the truck and get up in Dustin's face.
"And you didn't tell me you had a car like this because?!" I demanded.
"Sorry I didn't know you were in to that kinda thing," said Dustin with his hands in the air, surrendering.
"Ah I see... well cause we only just met I'll let you of the hook this time," I said and Brooks laughed quietly in the background. I shot him a glare that shut him up. "Well since your a hour early how bout you come and watch me practice for the cutting and camp draft in a few weeks."
