A/N: I'm still here, and I'm still writing. I'm a little behind my NaNoWriMo goal for today. I need another 5,000 words for today. Wish me luck. I hope I can catch up, but I got myself a bit behind, and my outline for this book isn't strong, which makes a big difference when doing a novel in a month.
Also, a reminder for all of my faithful readers, if you're looking for a way to help me out, a way to help me to stardom, to be able to leave my miserable job, to be able to write full time and accomplish my dreams, as well as having me be able to post more and more updates and novels on here before I send them to be edited, there are several things you can do. Buy my eBooks or paperbacks on Amazon, or other eBook retailer, and leave reviews! Reviews on Amazon & Goodreads are the most important. I only have 27 reviews for The Crimson Claymore on Amazon, while the wattpad version had over 1,300 comments/reviews. Please help me out and leave me a review. Thanks so much !!
Chapter 10
Noraes strolled into his quarters of the castle, exhausted from his long day. And to think, he had thought being a duke was a lot of responsibility, however, compared to being a king, he realized, it was a walk in the park. He went to his office and set a handful of scrolls to read through on his desk. He exhaled before heading into the kitchen and grabbing a cup of coffee.
He blew on it as he walked to Starlyn's room. His hand shook and his eyes grew wide, nearly losing the balance of his cup of coffee. Starlyn sat up in the bed for the first time in weeks, and she looked full of energy and reading. She had enough energy to read a book!
His mouth opened, ready to say something, but no words would come from his mouth. He just stared at her with mouth agape.
She shifted the book down to peek above the pages at him. The book closed and she set in on the bed next to her.
"Noraes, you're home." She smiled.
Taasheka stirred on the rocking chair next to the bed where she had been sleeping. She turned to see Noraes and bowed before silently leaving the room.
"You're looking better," he said.
"I'm feeling much better too. I don't know what Taasheka has been doing, but it's been working. She made some excellent soup earlier, and since eating it, I've been feeling much better."
"Soup?" he asked.
"Yes, I've had four bowls. I started with three before I made Taasheka bring me some books to read, since she wouldn't let me out of bed, but after finishing the first volume, I asked for another bowl of soup."
Noraes' eyebrows furrowed. "You tried to leave the bed."
A loud puff of air shot from Starlyn's nose. "She wouldn't let me."
Noraes smiled. "Good."
"If I have strength, shouldn't I walk around?"
"Yes, you should. But you shouldn't without me. For one, I want to see how you're doing. And for two, while Taasheka is very helpful, I have more strength than her in case you stumble."
Starlyn frowned, her bottom lip extending in front of her upper lip, glaring all the while at Noraes.
"Would you like to walk?" he asked.
"Yes."
He walked to the bed, kissing her, before helping her to her feet. Her eyes glistened as she looked up at him. He held her hand and they walked out of the room together.
