I step in front of the full length mirror in the bathroom of the hotel room. My red dress hangs perfectly down my body, swaying with every move of my body. My black pumps have thick heel that make my legs look long. My make-up is simple, just a plain lip with some eyeliner and mascara and my long, dark hair is curled so that it falls softly down my back, with the front portion of it pinned back. Satisfied with my look, I head outside to get a cab.
I step onto the curb, hailing for a taxi, when one pulls up, I give the driver the address and we start driving to Eleanor’s apartment. It is 7 in the evening and I notice for the first time how beautiful London looks lit up at night. The lights shimmer past the cab, coming close for a second and then fleeting away. I planned to arrive at the party slightly early, which sounds pathetic but I wanted to know a few faces before people start turning up and I get lost in the crowd.
I walk up the steps to ring the doorbell but Eleanor has already seen me and comes running outside to greet me. “Charlie! You made it! I’m glad you’re here early, I want to introduce you to all the boys!” El shrieks at me and drags me into the apartment. Her apartment is very big and is full of modern furniture. I follow Eleanor down the hallway passing a large staircase and many doors on the way. I’m led into what I suppose is the kitchen. I walk in the room to discover 5 boys standing at the kitchen bench. As I get closer I realise who they are. Oh my god. One Direction. Eleanor is Louis’ girlfriend. OH MY GOD! How could I have been so stupid?
I have been invited to One Direction’s party.
My eyes scan over the boys: Liam, Zayn, Louis, Niall and finally Harry. When I catch his eye, looks at me with astonishment.
“Charlotte?” He greets with a confused look on his face. After a minute he gives me a flirty smile “Oh, you two already know each other! Great!” El looks at us wide-eyed.
“How exactly do you know each other?” She stares at me like I should have mentioned it before.
Harry clears his throat “Ummm.. we just kind of bumped into each other,” He winks at me with a grin.
“Well, I guess you probably know who the rest are but I will let them introduce themselves”. El laughs as she darts off to make sure everything is ready for the party.
I listen as the boys introduce themselves, introducing myself in return. They make comfortable conversation with me, before I can make the situation awkward .
I sit down and talk to the boys and they ask me about my home where I’m from. Harry stays quiet keeping his glance on me. Look away Harry, that's kind of creepy... It starts to make me uncomfortable, so I decide to go find Eleanor to help with setting up.
By 8 o’clock more people had arrived and I was being taken from group to group trying to remember the names and faces of the people El introduced me to. Eventually she tells me that she is going outside to take a phone call and leaves me standing alone.
I scan the room looking for someone I can talk to or stand with. I start walking to the drink station, and although I don’t want to get drunk, one drink could calm my nerves. Harry Styles actually remembered me. I cannot believe that he remembered me; I mean I guess he would remember my face when I fell on him… but he remembered my name.
“Hey Charlie, are you liking the party?” His voice cut through my thoughts, I turn around and see him standing; hands in his pockets, half smiling at my shock from him talking to me. Instantly I become shy and pull my hands close to myself.
“It’s really great but I don’t really know how I’ll remember all these names” I reply, catching his eye and looking down at the ground again, he laughs at my comment.
