Kai's POV
After we agreed to be friends, I drove Yumi home because she had homework to do.
"Do I get my book now?" She asked as we pulled up to her house.
"Oh yeah I forgot about that," I handed her book to her.
"Thank you," she said. She gave a small smile and went to her house.
I watched her walk away, and then I realized I had forgotten something: her number. It was too late to go get her because she had already walked inside her house. Oh well, I'd get it tomorrow.
I drove home silently, thinking about Yumi. I didn't want to think about her, but I couldn't help myself. This was definitely not like me.
I got ready for bed and set my alarm extra early for school tomorrow.
My alarm started buzzing and I turned it off. Then, remembering why I set it early, I jumped out of bed and quickly got ready. I didn't bother to eat anything before I left.
I stopped in front of her house. I'm not sure what made me come here... I've never taken a girl to school before. There's a first time for everything though.
I hopped out my car and took a deep breath before knocking on the front door.
"Coming!" Someone shouted from inside.
The door opened to reveal a sleepy looking Yumi. She still had her pajamas on, and I think she had just woken up. Although her hair wasn't brushed, she has sleep in her eyes, her mouth was hanging half open, and she had morning breath, but she still managed to take my breath away.
I regained myself and told myself to keep cool. Stop feeling all fluttery. This is just like any other girl. I kept telling myself.
"Kai... what are you doing here?" She asked and then yawned.
"I came here for you of course," I said and smiled. "Since you walk, I'll be your driver."
"Kai, I just woke up. I need time to get ready. Why did you come here so early?" Yumi asked.
"Well I didn't want to miss out on spending more time with you by taking you to school. Maybe next time we should schedule a certain time for me to come, which I would have done but I don't have your number," I rambled to her.
"Slow down, I'm still half sleeping so I can't process things fast," she said and rubbed her eyes.
"You're so cute," I said and pinched her cheeks lightly. "Anyways, about that number?"
"What number?" She asked.
"The one for your phone silly," I said sarcastically.
"What makes you think you can have my number?" She asked stubbornly.
"Oh please... I already know where you live and we are friends so it's not a big deal," I said in a calm, but cocky voice.
"Okay. Well you can have it after I get ready," she said and moved away from the door, motioning for me to come in.
I gladly stepped through the door and examined the house. I did realize that there were no family pictures and the house seemed relatively empty. I frowned to myself, wondering why, but I didn't bother to ask.
