~Sakura's POV~

I went home that night and tore myself to shreds with my sobs and my anger. The neighbor came over once to check on me, giving me a nice glass of tea. I had apologized and said I was going through 'a rough patch in my life'.

Damn, was that ever an understatement.

None of my friends ever came over, which I was kind of glad about. They are just as confused and distraught as I am.

But after laying awake until 4:00 AM, I decided that I needed a break, and that I needed to get back into my job and being a true shinobi.

My alarm wakes me up at 8:00 AM, and I drag my butt straight down to the hospital to get in some extra hours. The lady behind the counter, which I barely know, greets me happily and directs me to room 204 where a patient has been injured after a long mission.

She hands me a clip board and smiles, "Be careful Sakura, he's pretty cute!" She gives me a wink and goes back to her work. I shake my head in confusion and head down the hallway to my right. It only takes a couple minutes and a few short conversations with other medical ninja's just to catch up before I reach my destination.

I stop in front of the door that reads 204 and start to read over the medical analysis sheet.

I gasp when I see the name:

Ryuu Kyrino

Is that him? It can't be! He didn't seem hurt when I ran into him the other day.

I push open the door and enter the room. There on the medical bed sits Ryuu himself. His eyes are closed in peaceful slumber, an arm wrapped roughly in bandages resting on his chest. His eyes flutter open when he hears me enter.

"Sakura!" he greets, sitting up.

"Hey Ryuu," I reply and place the clipboard down on his bedside table. He gives me a small smile, which disappears quickly and is replaced with a mildly pained expression.

I look down at his arm. The blood from the wrapped up wound has seeped through the bandaged layers.

"Someone did a pretty sloppy job with this one," I mutter to myself, taking hold of his arm gently. I begin to unravel the wrappings, revealing layer after layer, each one coated in more blood then the last. Ryuu watches intently, wincing here and there. I mumble a sorry every time he does, cause I feel terrible for making his handsome features twist in pain like that.

I finally reach the skin, stripping away the last strand of bandage. There is a deep cut in his arm, made from a blade of some kind. It wasn't properly healed the first time, just wrapped up, so my guess is that he did it himself. I rest his arm on the bed beside him and start healing it. Immediately he sighs.

"That feels amazing, Sakura," he says quietly.

I just nod in return. When I meant I wanted to get more involved in my work, that meant I wanted to get further away from the whole Ryuu/Sasuke thing. Bang goes that theory.

After I finish healing it, he runs his fingers over the faint scar gingerly, a small smile spreading over his attractive face.

"Thank you," he says sincerely.

"You're welcome. I'm just doing my job," I reply.

He looks at me directly in the eyes, "I would like to see you again, but under different circumstances."

I mentally wince, I was so hoping that he wouldn't bring that up.

"Would that be alright?" he asks slowly.

A battle starts raging in my mind whether or not I should say yes. Half of me wants to let Sasuke go and move on with my life, and the other half wants to cling to what little happy memories of the past I still hold dear.

One date shouldn't be THAT bad, right?

After a while, I nod. "Yea, that would be okay."

His smile grows, "Alright."

We arrange to go out three days from now, which gives me a lot of time to think about backing out. Afterwards, I leave his room and hand in the finished papers of his medical treatment. I get two six other patients that day, most of them either having a not-so-bad injury or just an unnatural cold of sorts.

I head home around 6:30 PM and I find Ino already sitting in my living room, waiting for me.

"Hey forehead!" she greets happily.

"Hi ugly," I reply, a fake smile spreading over my features. I right now, I really don't feel in the mood for playful banter, but I'd rather fake being happy then have my mood soil everyone else's day.

"Do you have any plans for dinner?" she asks. I shake my head. "Do you wanna come out with me and Sai? We're going to this new place on the west side of town. I've really wanted to try it out."

Nope. I'm not third-wheeling, thanks for asking.

The statement almost rolls of my tongue, but I'm interrupted by a knock on my door.

"It's open!" I call out, and I hear the door open and shut. In walks Tenten. Boy am I glad to see her.

"Hey Tenten!" I say, getting up to give her a quick hug.

"Hi Sakura. I was feeling kinda bored and lonely tonight so I was wondering if I could hang here with you."

Thank the lords. Tenten you are a life saver.

"Sure thing," I reply, and turn to Ino. "Maybe some other time, kay?"

She shrugs and smiles. "You girls have fun! I'll tell you how the restaurant is!" And with that, she leaves. I can tell she's a little put off by the whole situation, but come on, being a third-wheel on someone's date is THE WORST.

When I hear the door shut, I throw my arms around Tenten.

"OH MY GOD, YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!" I yell, squeezing her tight.

She laughs and, after I release her, plops down on the couch and brings her legs up to sit cross-legged. I laugh at the sight and sit next to her, doing the same.

"So, I've brought over some magazines if you wanna look through them. They're newest editions, I picked them up today!" she says, laying them out on the coffee table.

"Sure! Oh, and Naruto left me with tons of instant ramen if you want some of that," I suggest, and she nods happily.

We spend the night laughing and eating, and we even get in a word or two about our love-lives. I have to say her situation is more dreary than mine, for her love-life died with Neji...

She gives me a little advice on Ryuu, saying to just go for it and Sasuke is a moron, which I've heard a lot in the past week.

She goes home soon after and I head straight to bed, tired out from all the fun we had. It leaves me in a good mood, until my thoughts drift to Sasuke.

Like they always do.
