I'm sitting in a class room. It is a maths lesson with Mrs Twitton. I'm just drawing in my book I've always hated maths. My best friend Elly leans to me and says

"I'd give anything to get out of this class, I mean were never going to use any of this crap"

"I know our life isn't going to depend on what the ratio of a circle is"  I reply.

"Cassie anything you'd like to share with the class?" Mrs Twitton says with an annoyed expression.

"No just saying how much I love maths" I say in a smart-arse voice.

"Well then" she says "you can tell the class what the answer to the next question is then"

"oohhh ummm" I say realizing I'm screwed.

Just then a rumble starts and the class room starts to shake. Everyone looks around scared and confused. This isn't the type of place we normally get earth quakes. "Everyone under their desks now!" Mrs Twitton says and we all do it straight away. I grab my drink bottle it's my favourite one. I reach over and grab someone's small backpack (we had gone for a small walk in PE) and put my drink bottle in to keep it safe. A stupid thing to be worrying about now but still. We're all sheltering under out desks now, the earth quake gets more violent. I start to get very scared now. Bits of the roof start falling down. I'm frozen in shock now, the roof is completely falling. It's falling on desks!! I can hear cries of pain. I look at my friend as a huge bit of concrete falls on her and she is dead. If I stay here I will die. The earth quake stops. I'm not stupid I know in a minute it will start again and get much worse. But the whole building will fall on me if I stay here. I get out from under my desk and bolt through the door and into the hallway, I can hear the teacher yelling at me to come back. I ignore her. I bolt out of the building to the outside and then run, run as fast as I ever have to the oval and lay down right in the middle of it. There are no trees so probably nothing can fall on me. Then it starts, a violent earth quake a hundred times worse than the one before. After about 30 minutes it stops. I stand up and look around at all the buildings completely destroyed you can hardly tell they were buildings. Then I run again not even carrying if there is another earth quake LUCY! MUM! DAD! I run over to where the 7th grade building would be, it's my sisters class my mum teachers there and my dad was a parent helper for the day as well as others. I get there, the building is completely ruined, it;s just a pile of rumble, nothing could of survived that. They are dead. My family is dead. The whole picture starts going blurry and I wake up.

I realized I have passed out and had a dream or maybe a flashback would be a better word. A flashback of how it all started. I try not to think about it. I look around and start panicking. I feel my hands there tried up tried around a metal pole stuck into the ground. I start trying furiously to get lose. I try to pull my hands out  from the ropes. It's no use. Someone, a guy about my age walks up to me. I start to panic.

"Sorry about the ropes we knew you would run away as soon as you woke up" he says.

I look up confused why would he say sorry? He didn't say it meanly or like a smart-arse he said it kindly.

"If you're sorry then why don't you untie me?" I say knowing it won't work. But I'm just trying to work out how this guy thinks and acts.

"You will be untied soon but you have to be patient" again he is saying this kindly.

"I know you must be freaking out by now but we're not going to hurt you" when he says this I am very confused why would they take me if they weren't going to hurt me?

"My names Luke" he says cheerfully.

"Cassie" I say not seeing what harm it could do.

"Well Cassie" he says "I have someone I think you'd like to meet".

He steps aside and a younger girl starts walking up. I just stare it's my little sister it's Lucy.
