It's been a couple of hours now of running. We've crossed a water + hole and drank, had a sleepy and we've just stopped again for another one. We're really far away from the void now, further than I've ever been. Everyones worried now that the void is speeding up, that it's consuming the plain at a faster pace now. We've never really understood it, never really had the time to, to busy running away from it.
Just to be safe the group decided to have people keep watch while everyone sleept. I volunteered so I could watch over Lucy, I'm not going to risk losing her again. Erik said he'd keep watch with me, I'm assuming it's because he still doesn't trust me.
We're sitting around the fire now which is in the centre of the sleeping group. I look to my right and see the void far off into the distance we should be safe for now.
"Thankyou" I hear Erik say.
"Hmm?" I ask turning to face him.
"Thankyou for saving Lucy, I didn't say it before"
"I should thank you, your the one who helped pull us up" I reply.
"Yeah well if Luke hadn't got to you first you would have...Lucy would have-"
"I know" I say as I put my hand on his shoulder.
"I feel the same way". I understand the look in his eye, it's guilt. He gives me a nod.
"I may have misjudged you" he says after a while.
"You think" I smile back. He smiles too I think it's the first time I've seen him smile.
"Yeah well, it's hard to trust people now"
"I know. Thankyou" he looks at me confused when I say that.
"Thankyou for looking after my sister"
"Well I'm not the only one" he replys.
"Luke was actually the one who found her, you should probably thank him more than me"
"Luke was the one who found her?" I ask. Maybe that's why there're so close.
"Yeah, we were running one day and we saw someone in the distance passed out. I was going to say to leave them but Luke had already started running over to them. We were going to leave her but Luke said to stay. We had already ran long enough to stay for a while and have a sleepy. We did the same thing we did to you, we tied her up then woke her up by pouring some water + on her. She wasn't as calm as you were though. She woke up panicking, guess she thought we were going to hurt her. We gave her some water + and I guess she decided to trust us. Things weren't so bad back then. It wasn't meant to be a permanent thing, her staying with us."
"Why did you let her stay?" I ask. It doesn't seem like something Erik would do.
"I think some of the younger guys had a crush on her haha." He says smiling.
"And not you?" I ask. I want to see if that stuff Noah was saying is true.
"Well not at first but-" his eyes go wide as a he relised what he just revealed.
"She could do worse" I reply.
He looks at me with a face that has a mix of gratitude and confusion.
"But if hurt her I'll slit your throat when you sleeping" I say looking straight into his eyes.
"Point taken" he says looking away nervously.Authors note:
