CAMILLA'S POV
My antlers jingled as I walked around the house, randomly stringing up decorations, and placing baubles on all the doorknobs.
"Darling? Cami?" The Grand Master poked his head out of his study, his greying brown hair, his warm brown eyes taking in my Rudolf outfit. I was decked out in a woolly brown onesie, my fluffy chocolate uggs, a reindeer headband with bells dangling off the antlers, and my nose was painted red from Mistress Gingles lipstick.
"Hi Daddy!" I exclaimed brightly, bringing out a gold star sticker from my basket of Christmas stuff, and stuck it gently on his nose. He looked down at it, going cross eyed, before giving me a smile.
"What are you doing hon?" He asked, as I hooked a bright red bauble on his doorknob.
"Decorating! Santa won't go to a house that isn't showing the appropriate Christmas cheer. Taddy said Santa won't give you presents if you don't like Christmas!" I told him matter-of-factly. Tad was the 10 year old next door. His parents were writers with a healthy belief in encouraging child-like imagination.
"Well you have fun darling" Daddy gave me a warm smile, before slipping back into his study. I skipped downstairs, and saw that Mistress Gingles was pulling out a tray of gingerbread from the oven, her sweet voice humming Silent Night as she did so.
"Cami, hon, Jason and Nick are popping by, can you help me decorate these for them?" Mom turned, not even batting an eye at my outfit. I nodded eagerly, my bell'd antlers jangling as I strode forward, taking the blue icing bag from her hand.
The next fifteen minutes was spent with me launching into gingerbread decorating, which I'm actually quite skilled at. When my grandma was still alive, as a little girl, I used to visit her and we used to bake and bake and bake and bake and bake and bake and bake and my favourite part was decorating! Then I got good at it!
'Ding dong ding dong' my head snapped up, and a bright smile lit up my face.
"I'll get it!!!" I ran to the front door, and promptly slammed into it. "Owie" I swung it open, rubbing my head with a pout on my face. There stood my favourite people in the world!
Jason with his blonde hair stuffed in a cap, his blue eyes sparkling, and his nose pink from the cold, a broad grin spread across his face as he looked down at his (squeal) boyfriend, Nick, who was laughing loudly, his black hair windswept.
"Stop laughing dammit! I've heard enough about the damn gnome to know not trust it! So excuse me for being a bit wary, Lawson!" A really, really cute boy exclaimed behind the two of them. He had pretty blue eyes, short brown hair, and he was über tall!!! Like a giant!
"NICKY!!!" I screamed, ignoring the cute guy, and throwing myself at Nick, who toppled backwards onto the grass from my weight.
"Ditched the gnome get-up, huh, Cami?" Nick laughed, tapping my antlers, before hugging me close. I snuggled closer to him, feeling the same warm, safe feeling I felt whenever I was near him or Jason. They were my buddies, and they always protected me from the big baddies in the playground, and even when the scary man from their school was talking to me.
"So you only hug Nick?" Jason's deep voice called down to me, and I quickly sprung up, and tackled him in a similar hug. He laughed, kissing my hair gently, smelling like a big brother should; an earthy smell and faint Axe.
"Glad you think so Cami. You smell like gingerbread" Oops. My mouth has a direct line to my thoughts, and sometimes abuses that connection.
"Cami, what did I tell you about tackling our guests. Its already enough you take them down before the door with that gnome, but you have to greet them AT the door as well" Mom tutted from somewhere above me. "Nicholas! Its been such a long time!" Mom squealed in an equally high register to my voice, hugging Nick just as tightly as I had. And she says I attack our guests! She literally ran over the mailman when he forgot her monthly subscription to Cosmopolitan Magazine. Mom was in a rush, what can I say?
