JASON'S POV
I cut into my steak, eyeing Nick warily. We were currently eating dinner at a diner down the street from our houses, and Nick didn't seem to be very into our impromptu date. His dark was swept forward into his eyes, and he had barely looked up at me for the past ten minutes. He was currently pushing around his spaghetti bolognaise, taking tiny nibbles now and then.
"Are you ok?" I finally broke the silence that had fallen over us after my failed attempts at conversation. Nick's eyes flicked up to meet mine briefly before sliding away, and nodded.
"Fine, why?" he asked in a monotone voice.
"Because we've been here for 15 minutes, and you haven't said a thing, looked me in the eye or responded to how cute I think you are" Nick glanced up, a smile curling his lips briefly, before looking down.
I sighed, put down my knife and fork, and sat back, crossing my arms.
"Ok. Tell me what I've done wrong" I demanded, eyeing him worriedly. We were doing so well and then he's put up his walls for some reason, and seeing as how he refuses to look at me, clearly it must be my fault or is related to me. Nick let out a huff of air, and looked up, an apologetic expression on his face.
"It's nothing. Really. Just overthinking things" Nick replied to me. He seemed sincere, but I knew he was still hiding something.
"Well, what're you overthinking? Maybe I can help" I offered, hoping I'd get somewhere in delving into Nick's brain.
His eyes trailed over my face, taking in my curiosity and determination to get to the bottom of his predicament, and a cute smile crossed his face.
And just like that, I lost all train of thought.
He started saying things, with that adorable smile, and his eyes lit up, though they still weren't as enthusiastic as they could be, and I think (and I will never admit this out loud) I just melted right into my leather covered seat. Him and his cute face just makes my insides turn to mush, my heart beat a million times faster (I'm surprised I haven't died yet), and my brain loses ALL it's coherency.
Ah, the joys of being in love.
"Jay? Jason?" I suddenly faded into the conversation to see him staring at me oddly.
"Oh sorry, I zoned out thinking about your cute facial expressions" ah, crap, did I really say that out loud? It's one thing for the guy you love to know you care about him, but a whole other to show how much hold he has over you. I put on a confident smirk to hide my slight embarrassment at my confession, and saw that a blush tinged his cheeks.
And there it goes again! I swear, half the time I spend with Nick is spent in a love/lust filled haze.
"Well, I was saying I was thinking about Cami and Mikey. That little get together at Christmas really sparked something, don't 'cha think?" he was still hiding something, but I let it go for the distracting business of Cami and Mikey?
"Woah. Hold on there, nothing sparked. Cami and Mikey...aren't Cami and Mikey. They...they shouldn't even be in a pairing or sentence near to each other unless it's 'Cami does not like Mikey'" my eyes widened at the thought of them being together.
"Aww, got some big brother problems huh? That's so cute" Nick teased, and a blush coloured my cheeks.
"No! ... maybe. Look, Cami's too young to even THINK about dating. Especially not a hormone-riddled teenage boy like Mikey. I should know! I'm dating one!" heh.
