MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! =D XOX <3

...

...

...

I honestly have no excuse as to why I haven't updated this story in God knows how long. I think it was partly from writer's block, as well as not having the will to write.

Well, as you can see I've finally managed to get back into writing and I introduce you to the long-waited chapter of Washed Away!

... That is if you guys have had the patience to wait for it. Sorry. >_<

Ky's P.O.V.

I jumped out of the way as the Shadow I was currently fighting lunged towards me, it's red eyes burning with malice. Panting, I channelled what left I had of my lux navitas into my hands and pummelled the Shadow with a rally of punches. Luckily, my enemy hadn't been expecting such a bold attack from me and got hit, causing it to start fading. It's screeches filled the forest and made me cover my ears in pain, before it finally ceased to exist. My hands slowly stopped glowing and I collapsed onto one knee, sweat pouring off me.

Glancing over to my right, I saw Father battling with two Shadows. The lux navitas gathered in his hands seemed to danced in the dim forest, leaving trails of silvery light in its wake. I struggled to my feet but almost instantly fell, my legs turning to jelly. I felt a hand rest on my shoulder and looked to see Austan, his eyes filled with concern.

"You need to rest, Ky." He said, hooking his hands under my armpits and hoisting me to my feet. "You are going to faint if you continue as you are."

"I cannot." I snapped, turning to face him. "There are still many Shadows left and we still have not found Lena and the others."

Austan groaned and ran a hand through his dishevelled hair. All around us our fellow tutores de lumine were fighting against the Shadows, desperate to prevail over the enemy. Our side had already lost many but the Shadows never seemed to tire and with each one lost, a new one replaced it.

We needed to find the hostages and retreat. Quickly.

Suddenly, Austan grabbed onto my shoulders and steered me away from the fight, crouching down behind a tree out of sight.

"Ky, I need you to round up a few of us and head off without the Shadows knowing. We must find out where they come from or we will never be able to retrieve Lena and the others."

"What about you and Father?" I asked. Austan smiled and ruffled my hair.

"We will keep the Shadow's attention on us so you and the others can sneak off. Good luck."

With a final grin, Austan jumped up and charged back into the battle, yelling as he did so. Not wanting to waste any time, I started searching for tutores de lumine to take with me and spotted Damon, down on his knees and clearly at the mercy of his opponent. Collecting my lux navitas into my hands once more, I crept around behind the Shadow and punched hard into the black, swirling fog which covered the back of it's eyes. The enemy shrieked and dissipated without leaving a trace. I rushed to Damon's side and helped him onto his feet.

"Thanks, Ky." He puffed. "I thought I was going to die."

"Not today." I replied, letting my lux navitas drain away from my hands. "Anyway, I need you to help me..."

P.O.V. Elaina

"Here we are." Amara whispered. The forest loomed out in front of us, the darkness within seeming to creep out towards us. I shivered and wrapped my arms around me. I expected to hear a battle raging within, but all I could hear was the wind whistled through the tree's leaves and my heaving breathing.

"Do you think they're okay?" I asked quietly.

Amara sighed and looked at me, her eyes filled with worry for her brothers and father.

"I really hope so." She replied.

Gulping, I made to step forward when Amara grabbed my arm and steered me away.

"Wait, where are we going?" I asked, trying to get her to loosen her grip on my arm.

"They are most likely fighting in the middle of the forest, so we are going to go around by keeping to the edge of the forest."

It seemed like a good plan, so I let myself be dragged by Amara.

"Why the hell did I decide to wear shorts and a t-shirt?" I grumbled as yet another branch left a red scratch across my arm. Amara chuckled from in front of me and batted a large leaf from her face.

"You obviously have no common sense." She teased, causing me to growl in annoyance.

We had been trekking through this god-forsaken forest for about an hour or two and my feet felt like they were about to fall of. I groaned and stepped over a stray log.

"I need to get fitter."

"Stop talking." Amara said.

"What? I do---"

"Seriously, Elaina. Stop talking!" She snapped, stopping in her tracks so I ended up walking into her back. "Can you not hear that?"

I strained my ears and was about to say no, when a heard a rustle come from our right. My breath caught in my throat and I saw Amara's hands start glowing, presumably from her lux navitas.

"Get behind me." She ordered, throwing my arms out so that my view was blocked. Another rustle sounded and all went deadly silent, before something launched itself through the leaves. I screamed just Amara went to attack, but something grabbed her wrists and pushed her to the ground. I stumbled back and screamed again as something grabbed me from behind.

"Shhh, Elaina! It is just me!" A familiar voice whispered in my ear. I gasped and looked over my shoulder to see Ky's beautiful amber eyes.

"Oh my God, Ky!" I whispered, my eyes filling with tears. "You're okay!"

Ky's forehead creased as he saw my tears and turned me around before my face was crushed to his chest. I wrapped my arms around him and couldn't stop the tears from falling.

"I'm okay, Elaina. I'm fine."

My eyes snapped open and I gazed at his face. He looked at me in confusion.

"What?"

"You just abbreviated your words." I giggled. Ky's mouth turned up into a small smile and he let out a chuckle.

"I have been hanging around with you too much." He said, bring his lips to mine. Both of our lips were dry and chapped and I probably stank, but the kiss still sent me to the moon and back. A not-so-discreet cough sounded and we broke apart to see Amara shaking her head at us, with Damon by her side.

"You two." She tutted, a smile gracing her lips. "Come on, we need to get going."

"Speaking of which, why are you two here?" Ky asked, releasing me from our hug but still keeping his hands on my waist. My mouth went dry as I remembered Milo and I hung my head, not wanting to tell him why. I suspected Amara was having the same problem as me as she swallowed a few times before speaking.

"Milo sneaked out in order to follow you, Austan and Father." She finally said. I heard Ky's sharp inhale of breath.

"Milo is out here, by himself?" He whispered, shock and horror laced in with his words. His hands released my waist and he dragged a hand down his face, disbelief covering his features. His hands suddenly clenched into fists and he stared as us, determination shining in his eyes.

"We had better get him back then."
