I was in a daze.

I still couldn't get over the fact that Ky had kissed me. Me! The feeling of his soft lips against mine and the explosion of fireworks behind my closed eyelids would never be forgotten.

I could've stayed in his arms forever if Frost hadn't chosen that exact moment to come running outside and bark like a maniac. That dog cannot go five minutes without having the need to replenish his already stuffed stomach.

At round about half one - this is still officially in the morning by the way - I decided to retreat to my bed when guests started to arrive for the party. Syrena made it her job to introduce me to everyone so I didn't stop moving on my feet for about three hours.

Most of the guests consisted of families showing off their daughters and hoping to get Austan and Ky to notice them. I couldn't help feel a stab of jealously as the girls fluttered their long eyelashes at Ky and swept their long shiny hair over their shoulders. Ky, however, seemed oblivious and kept trying to talk to me despite all the beautiful teenage girls around him.

As the party wore on, Amara noticed how tired I was getting and insisted that I turn in. I tried to decline but realised she was right when I realised I was almost falling to sleep on some strangers lap on the sofa.

Amara promised she's tell Ky so, without further ado, I trudged upstairs and quickly got changed into my pyjama shorts and strappy top, before collapsing onto my bed and falling into a deep slumber.

Laughter rang in my ears, awakening my senses and causing me to crack open an eyelid. I was standing in the middle of the desert with the sun high in the sky.

Wait...

The sun?

I glanced up into the clear sky, shielding my eyes from the glare. Sure enough, the huge ball of gas shone brilliantly and burned my skin through my clothes. Why as there a sun? What happened to the moon?

I'd almost decided that I was back on Earth when the shrill laughter emitted again. I looked across the sandy plains and my eyes widened when I spotted Ky standing on the horizon, his hazel eyes sparkling with amusement.

A grin broke onto my face and I placed a foot forward, when I was roughly pushed aside. I saw a glimpse of tanned skin and flowing blonde hair before my face smacked into the blistering sand, burning my skin with the contact.

Ignoring the urge to scream in agony, I raised my head in time to see Ky embrace the person and lovingly kiss them. My eyes watered with pain and sorrow as I recognised the person's face as one of the girls from Ky's party.

The wind picked up and blew across the dunes, sending a shower of sand into my burnt face. I clenched my eyes tight to protect them, eyes of sadness flowing down my cheeks and moisturising my dry and cracked lips. The giggles from the girl and Ky's chuckles were carried along with the wind, filling my ears with the sounds. I cried out but my voice was harshly swept away and taken far into the distance where no one would hear it.

I continued to scream into the desert air, but it was no longer my voice which was coming out from my mouth. It was the screams of women and children, all of them cries of despair and horror.

Something warm and wet touched my nose and I opened my eyes, expecting to see more sand but I was shocked to find Frost's worried face in my field of vision. I blinked lazily, realising that the whole scenario was a dream; a nightmare. Frost whimpered and snuggled into my arms, hiding his head in my tangled hair.
