Jonathan woke up, sweat drenching his neck, and his head aching. Blankets covered his body, and he felt comforted by the light rain falling from the sad sky.

Closing his eyes, he gripped the blanket covering him and wiped his eyes, the slowly sat up. Footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs, and a sudden relief fled over him as he saw Evan stood in the hallway.

His friend sighed and sat on the edge of the bed. "Thank god you're awake." He said. "I thought you got sick or something."

Jonathan looked at him confused, not remembering what had happened before he fell asleep. "Um..what happened..?"

Evan suddenly had a concerned look on his face. "You..uh..you couldn't breathe and you passed out.."

"Oh.." Jon muttered. "How long have I been asleep?"

Evan seemed to hold his breath and close his eyes. "A couple hours.."

Jon freaked out as the thought seemed to punch him in the gut. "What?!"

Evan put a hand on his shoulder and confirmed him. "Everything's fine. I haven't seen anything yet." He explained. "The T.V. went offline about an hour ago, so I don't know what's going on, but I promise I'll keep you- uh..us..safe."

He relaxed at his friend's words, and pulled his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. "Do you have the backpacks ready?"

Evan nodded. "Yeah, I got most of the food into another bag I found laying around."

Jonathan thought for a minute. "I guess we can stay here until we have to move. Go ahead and lock the doors and nail the windows shut." He stated.

Evan immediately stood up and nodded at Jon, then left the room and walked down the stairs.

Jon sighed and followed him, then searched the downstairs for a hammer and some nails. Pulling open ever cabinet and drawer, he finally found the bag of nails he was looking for.

Soon after, Evan yelled from across the room. "I found a hammer!"

They both met up in the living room and tossed the items on the couch.

"How are we supposed to nail the doors shut?" Evan asked. "You have any boards?"

Jon facepalmed at his stupidity, but suddenly had a thought come to mind. "I have an old desk I never used. We can take that apart?"

Evan smiled. "Good idea."

Jon turned and ushered Evan to follow him down the hall and to an old computer room. The room was empty, except for a guitar and a couple teddy bears lying around, and, of course, the desk.

Evan walked into the room and looked at the wooden desk. "Yeah, we can cut up some of this." He said, turning to Jon. "You have a saw or anything?"

Jon nodded. "Yeah, I think..it might be in the back closet. I'm not sure."

He laughed. "You're very familiar with hiding in closets aren't you?" Evan asked, then walked away laughing at Jon's burning face.
