Gay.

Hey you want to know something, That's pretty obvious and clear?
I'm gay, but you've got nothing to fear.
I'm not going to take away your rights or privilege,
I'm not going to make fun of your religion.
I'm not going to hell though you seem to think so,
But if I do, you'll miss one hell of a lit party though.
I'm gay and that's really okay, But some people's minds quickly fray,
Of really what it means to treat others with kindness,
And not with hate and mean-spirited wildness.
I'm not going to turn all the boys around me gay,
That's ridiculous banter and pretty stupid to say.
I'm not going to ruin your life though you seem to think just that,
Dude, are you serious? Put on your damned thinking cap.
How can I ruin your life and your privilege?
When you've already had it and it's never been tampered with.
You say me being gay is a sin and shameful,
Dude, it is 2016... Life's got more then what you deem as a handful,
Such as me being gay and taking your "spotlight,"
You seeing me as a threat to your god-given rights.
I'm nothing of all that you say that I am,
I'm as normal as they come and should be able to do as I can,
Write this poem without hating upon you,
Yet at times I wonder how can you do,
So much hatred and spew all the banter and ridiculous shit,
You think someone will come and take a hit,
On your life and your privilege well for once listen pal,
I'm gay and that's okay,
That's all I have to say...
So don't have a cow.
