Right after school ended I stood outside waiting for Anna to come out.After a few minutes, she walked out and looked around for me.I called out her name and she turned to me,gave a small smile,and began walking my way.
"Hey,"she said when she finally reached me
"Hello"I smiled at her."so um do you have a car or are we walking?"I asked
"Umm my car's right over there,"she said and pointed at a black jeep
"So where are we going,"I asked her as we hopped into the car and she started driving
"Well I wanted it to be a surprise but I'm not quite sure if you'll like it and I really want you to but I'm scared you'll hate me if you don't"she ramble quietly
"Woah slow down,I'm sure I'll love it"I assured her and chuckled
"Okay I guess," she said
We drove for at least 5 more minutes before she finally slowed the car to a stop
"We're here"she stated and the both of us hopped out of the car
"since you like to read I wanted to take you to my favorite old bookstore and there's a coffee shop right next to it so we can go there after and talk or read if you'd like,"she said softly
"I told I would love it,this is honestly awesome thanks for bringing me here"I turned to her and smiled brightly but as soon as we made eye contact she moved her eyes to the floor
"Your welcome,"she said as the color began to rise in her cheeks.
She walked into the store ad held the door for me behind her.
I walked in and began admiring the stacks of books,the store had an old homey feeling that just made you want to sit in there for hours and read.
"Why don't we both look around and choose 3 books for the other to read,okay?I asked her
"But what if you don't like the books I choose,"she said so softly I could barely hear her
"Well I'm sure I'll love it,and if I don't I'll just pretend I do,"I said and laughed
She looked up at me and smiled "okay"
"I'll meet you back here in ten,"I said and began searching for three of my favorite books in hope that she would love them just as much as I did
By the time I found the books the time was almost up so I went and stood where we said we would meet and soon after I arrived she walked out of the row of bookcases and stood in front of me.
"Okay so let's trade,"I said and handed her my books ad then she handed me hers
"An Abundance of Katherines by John Green,It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini,and Me,Earl,and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews"she read the books I choose for her aloud
"All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven,Your Voice Is All I Hear by Leah Scheier,and My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga"I read the names of the books she picked for me
"I'm really sorry if you think these are really depressing but they're my favorite books so yeah,"she said as she stared at the ground next to me
"Oh it's fine they all actually look really interesting"I smiled at her reassuringly
"Why don't we go pay for these and then head over to the coffee shop," she asked
"Okay let's do that"I agreed with her
After we both ordered,we found a booth in the back of the coffee shop.
"well, why don't you tell me the basics about yourself?"I asked her"um I'm Anna Sher,I'm 17,I'm really short,my favorite color is black,I love reading,and I also absolutely love music,"she said.She talked in such a soft voice that would be annoying if it was anyone else but it was her
" what are your favorite artists and bands and stuff,"I asked
"well I love My Chemical Romance,Halsey,One Direction,Green Day,Ed Sheeran,Blink 182,Twenty-One Pilots,Melanie Martinez,The 1975, Nirvana,Fall Out Boy,Panic at the Disco,Arctic Monkeys,and The Pretty Reckless," she told me excitedly
"I actually love most of those,you have great music taste," I said and laughed
she smiled lightly and said "it's your turn"
"Okay,well I'm Calum hood,I'm also 17,I'm kinda tall I guess,my favorite color is baby blue,I'm kiwi ad sottish,I play bass guitar,and I have an older sister,"I said
"You are tall,"she said and giggled.
"well, of course, you'd say that you're like 4 feet tall"I chuckled as I made fun of her
"hey,it's not my fault I'm short,"she said and began laughing.This was the first time I had ever her laugh fully and I wanted to play it on repeat for the rest of the day
After we both finished laughing we decided to start reading our books
"which book do you recommend I read first,"I asked her
"umm how about you read Your Voice Is All I Hear,it's the least depressing out of all them," she told me
"Alright,"I said and laughed
"what should I read first," she asked me
"read An Abundance Of Katherines,it's less hardcore than the rest, "I told her"Okay,so you like My Chemical Romance,"she asked me another question
"Yeah," I said
"Well I want to play you my favorite song by them while we read,"she said shyly
"sure,"I said.I got up and walked to her side of the booth and sat next to her.I saw her blush out of the corner of my eye u I didn't want to embarrass her so I just smiled at her.She handed me the earbud and we sat next to each other,drinking coffee,reading books and listening to Disenchanted.
