XXIII

Sasuke squirmed against her touch but remained unconscious. "His fever had lessened." Sakura sighed in relief. "Sakura.." Her skin crawled in fright when my glare intensified. "You didn't wake me up? We should keep moving Sakura! What happens when the enemy would spot us huh?! I couldn't fight them all off! And you can't carry those two just to escape! I'll be dead before they reach you!" She looked down apologetically. "I'm sorry. It's just that you need more rest than me and knowing you couldn't even sleep properly. I couldn't wake you."

My eyes averted outside, my arm stretched in a protective stance. "They're here." I stood up with much strength as I can, without staggering to use my sword. "Are you crazy?! Let the traps fight them off." Sakura beamed at me. "It's never enough, Sakura. To beat them off, we have to use brute strength." The small male ninja smirked at us when we got out of the cave. His eyes darted to mine and Sakura. "Well, well well.. look at these beauties! But  sadly, you both have to die in my hands." My eyes looked at the female who seemed to be watching Sakura. B*tch! I thought. "I will never let you touch my comrades!" My sword came at my side, in a stance.

The female's grin widened. "Oh really?" She stepped her foot, only to realize that it was a trap. "What?!" They all went back and only to cause a series of traps to be activated. "Sakura, you did good." She smirked while we held our guard. "Let's beat their asses to a bloody pulp! Cha!" Her fist clenched, with her attack position. "Y- you b*tch!" The smaller male screamed, charging at us. Both my hands gripped at my blade. His eyes visibly widened in shock when my sword made a clean cut only a few inches from his face. The male behind him, grunted when my slash had came at him, blocking it with his weapon.

My movements were a bit sloppy but my attack just makes them intimidated by my presence. "Stay on guard from her sword! Her fighting style seemed ominous and fast as well." The female barked orders from her team mates. "Stop telling us what to do!" He yelled but grinned triumphantly at us. "I admit, you're skills are admirable. Such a shame, you'll have to die soon, cutie." He charged at me once more but this time, my eyes couldn't keep up with the speed. "Aghhh!" Sakura's eyes widened when she saw blood pouring out my leg. He had managed to know where my weakness lays and had gotten a blow at my wound with his kick.

I landed on the ground but had slowly tried to get up. Sakura flung her kunai at the female and charged at her when she was left out in the open. She landed a punch at her face. I smirked, getting my sword. I would want to steal her spotlight for being the hero. Wind suddenly blew against us, causing me to hide my eyes. "The most handsome green beast of Konoha has arrived!" A male sporting a bowl cut hair and tight green suit came at the center of our battle. "Lee-san!" Sakura screamed, hopeful that someone had come to our rescue.

I looked to see that the female b*tch had grabbed her by the hair. I gritted my teeth. I'm always fond of Sakura's silky cherry locks and it irritates the hell out of me to see someone had wanted to destroy those. We we're in a rather tight situation. "But Lee-san, why would you want to save us?" His bushy brows glinted while his teeth sparkled, giving us a thumbs up. "Like I said, I'll protect you with my life!" They could make a great couple if you ask me. Her eyes comically stared at me. "Don't tell me you're moved by his speech!"

Soon after, I sensed other people's chakra near us. My lips slowly curved upwards. Lee was bruised after the taijutsu battle. It's a big blast to my ego as a shinobi. We fought in many numbers against only the three of them. These guys are sound ninjas, and that Orochimaru guy.. was sound as well. My face paled when I had made my equation. Don't tell me he... Dark chakra emitted from the cave. My shirt was a bit ripped, revealing my stomach. "Sakura.. who did this to you?" My eyes glanced sadly at Sakura's short hair. I'll miss those. "I am." The sound ninja cockily grinned, oblivious to that immense amount of chakra leaking from Sasuke's body. "What about it?" Sasuke's grin was sinister and cold, no longer that warm look he gave at us as his team mates.

He tilted his head in search of someone, and his eyes found mine. I probably looked like a raggedy old doll. His fists clenched tightly against his side. The enemy charged at him, the female and the bulky male remained silent, knowing that they wouldn't win against him. Lee's eyes looked in admiration for his rival. The male Uchiha was swift and move such faster speed with his new power. He was quick to be behind him, locking the enemy's arms with his hands. Oh no.. "These arms, they looked quite attached to you." He screamed in horror when we heard the sound of his bones cracking. My eyes closed while the other teams looked so cringy with the sound. Sakura came running to his direction. "Sasuke! Please stop!"

He deserved it Sakura. His one of Orochimaru's lackeys. They were sent out to kill us. Black fire marks marred his skin. The seal on his neck turned visible in my view. His team mates quickly got him and went far away from us. Their faces deeply embedded in my mind. I swear.. I'll get back at them, when I'm fully recovered. Her arms came hugging behind him. My heart suddenly felt tight against my chest. I noticed that his marks slowly disappear, with all the Konoha genins watching them. She was his future, I was his past and it would always remain that way. Sakura is his light. Sasuke looking at me, I know he would remember our fallen clan whenever he looks at me. I am his burden.

Ino Yamanaka had helped Sakura with her new hair cut. I leaned on the tree watching them. I mean such little importance with bonds. I watched.. as they all look to united together, helping our team with what they have. Naruto had woken up after our commotion, oblivious to anything that had happened when he was asleep. They left us soon after, probably getting their scrolls. Sasuke came and leaned beside me. Our silence emanated in waves. I took a small glance at him to see that he was closing his eyes. I guess he's tired. A blushed crept my cheek when his orbs suddenly woke. I looked away.

"You idiot." I said, gaining his attention.
