My clan's crest hung on my neck through the silver chains that adorned as an accessory and also as an identification to which family I had belong. I had strapped my weapons pouch on my waist. I was sporting a white shirt with black ribbon on my neck and the usual clan symbol on my back.
I slid outside my room to see my father waiting for me at the living room. "Otou-san, you called me?" I politely bowed my head as his scrutinizing eyes came at me. My father stood up and placed a vintage looking box. It's lid had baroque and intricate designs with a fire symbol as its lock. "This has been passed down by your deceased mother. She had this made before she had died during a mission. It's her gift for you." My fingers brushed some of its dust that had settled down in it for years. I opened its lid to see a white katana with gold patterns marked in its sheath.
I took a closer look of the blade to see that it was newly sharpened. "Father, can you tell me how Mom died?" Deep crimson eyes with three tomoes glanced at me. "Very well." I was cast under a genjutsu as our surroundings changed to an old era where shinobis battle it out during the third ninja war. "Her clan, along with the Uzumakis had only a few survivors during the aftermath." True, they had a powerful kekkei genkai but only a few possessed its abilities. One of them was your grandmother." My eyes darted unto a group of people with similar features. "Your mother died not because of her mission but rather the rogue nins' thirst for power. They want to capture her alive to see if there was any clue how to achieve that kekkei genkai."
"Your mother killed burned herself so that there were no remains left." He sighed as we returned from the scene. "Thank you, father." I gave a short nod before leaving the household.
I hadn't cried nor depressed as I passed unto the busy streets of Konoha, evading a few people along the way. I felt... empty. Carrying the katana, I shifted it on my back. It was way too heavy for my age. "Akane-chan!" His spiky manes shone against the warm sun. His arm raised, waving at me in greeting. Our 'awkward moment' was long forgotten as we both realized not to dwell on that accident.
"Oh, Sasuke." He walked right beside me, with a small smile in his face. "Aren't you excited for the day?" I shook my head. "Not really." His eyes quickly darted on what I was carrying. "Ah it's my mother's gift for me." He nodded in understanding. "By the way, I have seen your Dad but I hadn't met you mom." A sad smile escaped my lips. "She died on a mission." There was a short pause before he apologized for asking. "It's alright."
We both entered the building as curious glances came on us. Eyeing the symbol on our backs, some girls blushed as they were currently checking Sasuke out but I caught on their daggers that went on my way, noticing that I was an actual girl. I reminded myself to train in wielding the sword later. "Let's sit here, Akane-chan." I merely nodded as we both sat down within the third row on the second column. His demeanor changed into sudden coldness as students came inside the room. I guess he was only open to people of our clan. "Naruto!" A loud voice yelled across the hallways as a blonde haired kid ran inside with an adult coming after him. "How many times do I have to tell you to stop making problems to people?!" A vein potruded in his forehead as the so called 'Naruto' sat down at the second row, third column. His legs were dangled in his seat, an arrogant smirk in his face. "People would look up to me because I'm going to be a Hokage Iruka-sensei. Believe it!" A few people looked at him in irritation as well as Sasuke beside me.
Iruka-sensei sighed in frustration as he turned to look at us. "Good morning everyone, I see some familiar faces in here. Can you new students introduce to us? Starting with you." He pointed towards me. I went down to stand at the front, noticing some curious stares while others gave glares. "I'm Akane Uchiha." The soft wind made a sound as I had said my name. "So new girl, do you like someone in our class?" A blond haired girl asked causing some of the other girls to look at me with anticipation as well. "I like... myself." I pointed at my face, giving an 'are you kidding me?' look. "Hey new girl, are you by any chance related to Sasuke?" A pink haired girl looked at me with those fiery look in her emerald eyes which had reminded me of jade. Her hair can be in comparison to the sakura petals that fell out from the tree. "We're of the same clan." Way to go captain obvious. The pink haired girl thought.
"Ok. That's enough. Next please." I went on the small stairs to sit beside the semi spiky haired male Uchiha. He glanced at me with a slightly amused expression in his face. I gave a sly grin once I settled on my seat.
It was lunchtime when we decided to eat at the railings of the rooftop, watching the sceneries Hidden Leaf has to offer. He was eating a dumpling while scowling. "I can't lose to that Uzumaki kid. He's downright annoying." He muttered, taking a bite. I turned to look at him just as he suddenly gave an angry glare behind his back. I gave a small glance to see the pink haired girl blushing as she had a panicking expression in her face. Her face felt like it was on fire as she hurriedly ran away from his sight.
"You're such a bully with your glares Sasuke." My arms rested against the railings to see that he was pouting at me. "I'm not a bully. I just don't see the reason why girls want me just because of my looks." A small amused smile made it's way to my face. "Sentimental." I stuck my tongue at him. His expression was bewildered. "I- I'm not!"
