My ears perked up by the news. Sasuke suddenly left the village. He was going to Orochimaru to seek more power. Everyone from different teams were sad. My face was sullen. He didn't have the audacity to say goodbye. What made me curious was that he left Sakura in a bench that night. I felt a little hollow upon hearing that she was the only one he had said goodbye. Everyone was concerned about the fact that the last remaining Uchihas had gone rogue.
My hands were in my pockets, kicking the small stone as I walked. I was going to ask the new selected Hokage for more information. There was something that feels wrong. "The genin teams went to retrieve Sasuke's body from a group of sound nin. They left so early this morning. Higher ranked ninjas can't do the work since everyone was recovering from the attack." I clutched the shirt in my chest, hearing her voice from the wooden door. They left me. "What about the other Uchiha?" I heard Kakashi asked, then the new Hokage sighed. "I could not send her to do it. If they managed to retrieve Sasuke, Orochimaru might have interest of her because of the sharingan."
I quickly left to the outskirts of Konoha, ignoring Kotetsu and Izumo as I ran in search for them. Activating my sharingan, I searched for signature chakras they left behind. The birds flew up in panick from the opposite direction. Now I knew where they were. My short hair fluttered against the wind, avoiding battles that had already started. One genin was left to fend off while the rest continued to chase. Numbers dwindled and I had noticed that I hadn't saw Sakura or Naruto around. The pink kunoichi's chakra never left a mark. I was so anxious to went after them that I forgot to put the bandaged seal on my sword. My weapon was chattering everytime I landed from one branch to another.
My body halted, seeing that I was on top of a cliff facing the two statues of the founders of Konoha. Waterfall separated them. The blonde Uzumaki panted, his skin was marred from burns, probably from Sasuke's fire jutsu. He quickly regained himself and charged at the raven male who had flicked him out of his way. I couldn't intervene with this fight. At the end of this battle, a bond might even be weakened or severed forever but that wouldn't mean that they wouldn't have to cross paths one day. My eyes quickly widened when Sasuke had used Orochimaru's power. He was a hopeless case. The more he uses it, the more he would succumb to Orochimaru's will. This was inevitable no matter how hard I tried to calculate alternatives.
"Sasuke! I'll bring you back to Konoha and that's a promise." They exchanged blows of kicks and punches. Gazing at the raven male, he was infuriated. I looked through my surroundings. This is where the leaders fought before Madara Uchiha had lost his life. Due to our clan's loss, the elders decided upon the new selected leader which was Fugaku-san's ancestor. Sasuke used his chidori in an attempt to kill his friend. I suddenly became alert. I would have to intervene. "You two! Stop this!" I hurriely went down and came in between them. "Stay out of my matters, Akane! I have to severe this bond in order to go to my path of revenge!" He yelled furiously, holding his jutsu in place. "This isn't the right path you would want to choose Sasuke! Go ahead! Go to Orochimaru but leave Naruto out of this!" Naruto screamed my name in protest.
The raven gritted his teeth. "You've gone soft, Akane! For what?! For begging him to live?! This is what makes you weak! This is your weakness!" My sword chattered beside me, my fists clenched in anger. "Join me, Akane! To the road for power! Isn't this what you wanted?! To kill your mother's murderer?!" I heard Naruto gasp near me but my eyes were menacing. "You don't know anything! I only told you a small story about myself but you don't know anything! You're very naive from the very beginning." My teeth gritted, eyes blazed with fury and words like poison. "Itachi was ordered by the elders of Konoha themselves to kill the Uchiha!" I don't know what came over to me to spill the beans. I totally f*cked up this time. Sasuke was rigid. "How can you be so sure?! You weren't there!" My eyes closed for a moment before activating my mangekyou. The Uzumaki seemed to have been lost with our conversation. "Y-you.." He gasped in surprise. "You also killed a person closest to you!" A single tear escaped from my right eye. "How? What evidence do you have?!"
