"Breathe". Naomi hugged me. Her and Kelsey greeted me at the door. Kelsey led us to her room. "It'll be fine". Naomi's eyes were sad. "I'm fine. I just don't want to leave" I tried to smile. Naomi got a board game from Kelsey's closet. "This will get your mind off things!" Kelsey laughed, but she was tense. I agreed and easily got caught up in the game.
I was having a great time until Kelsey's mom walked in. "Clarity, honey, you should probably go home". She said gently. My heart sank. "Yeah" I mumbled, standing up. Naomi squeezed me into a hug. I couldn't say anything. Kelsey joined in and we stayed like that for a minute, just breathing.
Kelsey let go. "I should go too" Naomi said. I slowly walked to the door. Before I left, Kelsey's dad squeezed my shoulder gently. "Bye, thank you" my voice cracked. I already miss them, but it's almost lunchtime.
