A loud beep over the intercom woke is up, as usual. Rubbing my eyes, I made my way over to Rydel. I held up her blanket to cover her as she got changed. There is absolutely no privacy here. When she finished she let me change and I grabbed my schedule.

After breakfast I went to the storage closet for cleaning supplies. There were 5 of us altogether. The other teens are all older and stronger than me. A particularly strong girl named Karen shoved by me, making me wince at the slight pain. She already has caused trouble with me, and I've only been here a week. Something about 'stealing her man'. I've only dated one person before, and that was because I was 14 and got dared to flirt with him.   It was awkward. She definitely doesn't live in my town, and I don't think her 'man' is the 15 year old science geek.
She is decently pretty, though. I don't know how with these crappy jobs.
They all beat me to the brooms, leaving me with the falling apart one that ever so generously gives splinters to anyone who touches it. Sighing, I grabbed it. I still had to get the work done, Tabatha would be furious if I slacked.
So I sadly started on the first room, the lobby. Yes she has a freaking lobby in her mansion/office/whatever this place is!
I put my weight onto the broom which immediately stung my hand with a splinter. I bit down on my lip, removing the piece of wood.
A tap on my shoulder startled me. I guessed it's a guard. "I-I'm sorry for slacking. I'll pick the pace right up I promi-" I turned around and saw not a guard, but a boy around my age. Slightly embarrassed I blushed. He laughed. He had brown eyes and black short hair. "You don't have to promise me anything!" I nervously nodded, I'm not good with strangers. "I saw Karen shove you". I start to say I'm fine but he cuts me off. "Just know that she does that to everyone. Don't take it personally. Here". He held out his broom. He sees my puzzled look and explains, "trade brooms. And please don't protest. How many other people have been nice to you?" He grabs my sorry excuse for a broom and put his in my hand. "Hey, I never got your name" he leaned in too close for comfort.
Wait is he hitting on me?!?!? "Thank you" I stuttered and turned my attention to sweeping. He called out to me, but finally getting the message, he left. Thank goodness too. He looked like one of those guys that won't stop trying though. This should be fun.
