Chapter 3 - Nightmare

Frisk's POV

Darkness. Nothingness. The void. Music plays in the background. I recognize this music... Suddenly, a disembodied voice talks to me.

You idiot! Did you really think this was all over? Sure, you're up on the surface. You can live with your friends. But that's just in one timeline! Don't you remember? Chara took over in another timeline! Ha ha ha ha! Better watch out Frisk. Chara's flying through this timeline. Who knows what she'll do! ha ha ha!!

Suddenly, I jolt awake. Where am I?? I look around my surroundings, trying to regain my senses.

Oh, right. The cave.

"Frisk? Are you okay, kid?"

I look over to see Sans sitting up. One of his eyes is blue. Tears welling up in both eyes.

"I don't know.. Are you okay?"

Sans sighs.

"I'll be okay. Just a bad dream. Why are you up?" Sans eyes returned to normal.

"Same reason.. nightmare. I didn't know you had them too."

"Yeah, forgeddaboutit. It's no big deal. You wanna talk about yours?" Sans came over to where I was sitting, and put his arm around me.

"I was in the void... familar music was playing.. someone spoke to me.. they sounded familiar too but.. my memory is fading."

Sans froze up as I explained my dream.

"What's wrong, Sans?"

"Eh, it's nothing, kiddo. We can talk about this another time. For now, you should try to get more sleep. We gotta big day ahead of us." Sans started to move back to his spot, but I grabbed his arm.

"Wait.. stay with me? Please?"

Sans gave me a small, sad smile.

"Sure, kid. Scoot over. Uncle Sans is big boned." Sans said, with a wink causing me to giggle.

I hadn't noticed but I had moved closer to Sans and Papyrus in my sleep so I moved over so Sans could fit better.

"Good night, bucko."

"Good night, Sans."

Eventually, we both slipped into sleep, hoping no more nightmares would disturb us.

-time skip, next morning-

Sans' POV

Whoa, where am I? Oh, right. Cave. Man, my bones are sore. Damn cave. Oh. Looks like everyone else is still sleeping. I'll let them sleep a little longer.

Maybe I can go outside for a bit.

I got up carefully trying not to wake anybody up. Especially Frisk. Poor kid had a rough night.

I left the cave and went to sit on a tree stump. Man, the sky sure is pretty. I stared at it for a pretty long time. At least it felt long.

Suddenly, I heard leaves crunching. I looked up to see a person. They looked scared. Huh.

"Wh-what the fuck are you?!" the person yelled at me.

"A skeleton. Relax, bro. Don't get your bones all rattled up."

"That's not normal! Where did you come from?? Please don't hurt me!"

Geez, this guy sure is scared. I'm gonna mess with him.
