Chapter 10

We walked out, hand in hand, to Kian's car.
"I want to show you something", he smiled as he started the car.
"Okay", I said excited.
After about a 15 minute drive we arrived at some kind of park I think. We got out of the car. Kian walked next to me and took my hand.
"C'mon", he said. We walked up a hill.
"I sometimes come here alone to just walk and think. It's a way I like to relieve stress and relax."
"What do you usually think about?" I asked.
"Well, lots of things. But during the last week every morning when I went for a walk with Hazel, I came here with her. See our house isn't far from here. But anyways! That's not the point! I came here to think about you. I wanted to tell you that I like you. I don't usually stress about stuff like this but I was really nervous to ask you on a date. But it's something about you that makes me scared I'll..um lose you", he suddenly silenced.
"Kian..."
"Yeah I know! I know we've only known for a week now. But you're different. I didn't even believe that there could be someone like you out there somewhere in the world. I didn't want to scare you off. I didn't want you to run away."
"Kian", I said again. He stopped walking.
"Don't say it. Listen, I know I've said this a million times, but you are that one thing that has been missing from my life. From that moment when I looked into your eyes after I bumped into you, I knew you're it. I could see it from your eyes."
"Kian!" I said so loud, he snapped and looked at me, "Kian... Stop rumbling. Listen, I'm not going anywhere. I promise you. Well yeah, I'll start college in a few weeks but it's close. I can visit you anytime. I can visit you everyday", I smiled. He didn't react but then suddenly he smiled from ear to ear. He kissed me on the forehead and hugged me.
"I'm sorry", he whispered. We stood there hugging for a good five minutes. I didn't want him to let me go, but when he did, he took my hand and said, "Let's go." We walked to this open area from where you could see the most amazing view. I gasped the moment I saw it. "It's beautiful."
I could see thousands of city lights on the left side but on the right side I could see the beach and the ocean. "Probably one of the best views in L.A. if you ask me", Kian said as we sat down on a big rock.
"What's the best?" I asked. He looked at me and just smiled.
"I swear you're the cheesiest guy I've ever met."
"Oh really?" he laughed.
"Yeah. But the cutest too." He smiled then grabbed my cheek and pushed his lips against mine.

We watched the sunset, and we talked and talked for a couple of hours. Suddenly Kian got a text. He ignored it. After a few minutes, he got another one. And after his phone was just repeatedly going off. After a few texts he annoyingly checked his phone. He looked shocked.
"Fuck", he mumbled.
"What's wrong? Who is it?"
"It's Jc", he said upset, "we need to go."
"Why what happened?" I asked while we were walking, almost running back to Kian's car. He didn't answer.
"Kian!" I shouted, "is everything okay?"
We got in his car and he gave me his phone to read Jc's messages.

Jc: i'm infront of border grill w lia, we need a ride now

Jc: kian! now!!

Jc: ITS IMPORTANT! ILL TELL YOU WHEN YOURE HERE

Jc: KIAN PLEASE NOW

Kian: on my way. what happened???

"Oh my god! I hope everything's alright!" I said after reading the texts. Kian drove as fast as he could. We got stuck in really bad traffic.
"Fuck! Move bitch the light's green what the fuck are you doing!?" Kian shouted honking the horn. He was going crazy.
"Kian please don't. I'm sure everything is okay, please just relax. Look they're moving now", I tried to calm him down.
"No nothing's okay! How do you know? You don't know! I'm quite fucking sure what's going on! These guys have been threatening us, they want to kill us, understand?! They want a shit ton of money from us! We don't have that kind of money! They are probably standing there guns on Jc's and Lia's heads!" he suddenly silenced. I looked away, almost starting to cry.

KIAN'S POV

I stopped the car in front of a Taco Bell.
"Get out. Wait inside the restaurant. I don't want anything to happen to you."
Dani hesitated for a while.
"Please!" I shouted. She looked at me red and scared. She got out slamming the door after her. I didn't mean to hurt her. I got mad at her but I really didn't mean to. I made her cry. I hate to see her cry. I wanted to apologize but I need to check on Jc and Lia. I drove off and couldn't help but cry. I never cry. But this is one of those situations when you just want to let everything out.

I soon arrived at Border Grill. I saw Lia crying Jc's arm around her. They were sitting on a curb. Once Jc saw me, he said something to Lia and they both got up. They went to sit in the back of my car.
"Are you okay?" I asked turning my head to look at them. Jc nodded. His eyes were red and slightly puffy. Lia was wiping her tears but new ones kept coming.
"What happened?"
"We were walking out from the grill, we were about to get in my car, when we saw them walking towards us. They hit me in my stomach a-and they took my keys. Lia was trying to stop them but they slapped her and pushed her to the ground and they were so many and-"
"They were so many and they had guns and everything. I thought we were going to die!" Lia interrupted Jc. They were both panicking and Lia was bawling her eyes out. She was shaking so much.
"Oh my god! Did they say anything? Who were they? Did you even call the cops?"
"No dude I can't! They'll kill us! It was Jack! And he had Sergei, Howard and the other big guys with him! They said if we won't have the money soon, they'll take everything we have and hurt our friends and family!" Jc shouted.
"You know them!?" Lia screamed, "Why from where?"
"Fuck!" I hit the steering wheel. "Look, Jack and Sergei are these guys who want a lot of money from us. Howard is someone they're hired TO KILL PEOPLE THEY DON'T LIKE. They're always saying that they'll kill us but they haven't yet", I quickly explained to Lia.
"Yet!" Lia shouted causing her to cry more, "from where do you know them? Why do they want money from you?"
"Let's go get Dani. I left her at Taco Bell. I promise we'll explain everything when we get home."
"Is it safe to stay at your place?" Lia asked, "we can go to my place."
"Okay", I said driving off to get Dani.
