It's gonna be okay, kid // 10K

Chapter 6

We passed an old derelict building which I presume would have been a old hospital 3 years ago before the apocalypse started.
Doc suddenly cried 'Hey stop! Might be something useful in there!'
He lept out the truck and pretty much ran over to the building. I giggled as id never seen the man run so fast. Warren shook her head and smiled 'He's probably after some more OxyContin, we best join him, make sure he doesn't get hurt and we might be able to find something of use as well'
After Warrens order we all jumped out, we went in pairs, Warren and Vasquez and me, 10K and Addy.

10K walked a little ahead of me and Addy, his dark Raven hair blending in with the darkness which was only slightly illuminated by a crappy old torch Addy found at the entrance. I admired 10ks bravery, Addy had talked to me earlier and told me what he had been through and I really respect him for it all, I don't know how he's still going.

We passed door after door and all we managed to find was some calpol and a small box of plasters.
'Hey do you guys remember in school when if you were ill the school thought calpol would fix it, they thought calpol fixed everything' she says bursting into laughter.
'Try and keep it down a bit' 10k says holding back a laugh as I try to stop myself.

We meet back up with the rest of the group and we put together our findings.
We had the calpol and plasters from earlier, bandages, rubbing alcohol and painkillers.
Doc still wasn't back.
Warren exchanged a worried look with the group.
'Me and Xena can go back in and find him, he can't be to far away.' 10k said.
'I think we all best go in, it's a fairly big hospital. Me and Vasquez will take the left side, you and Xena can take the right. Addy you stay here in case he comes back.

Me and 10k set off at a jog, I knew that Doc meant a hell of a lot to him. It seemed that Doc was basically 10ks dad, they were so close. The apocalypse really had brought them together, they were almost inseparable and they meant so much to each other. It was kinda cute I guess. You could see in his face how worried he was, he really wanted to find that man. But I could tell in his eyes that he'd seen and been through so much pain. He suddenly turned his head toward me and took me by surprise. I quickly looked ahead and acted normal but I could tell he was still looking at me, probably wondering why I was staring at him but I didn't mean to. Kinda just got lost in the moment.

We came to a door we hadn't seen before, it was large and made of metal. 10k nodded his head in the direction of the door signalling to me he wanted to investigate. I pulled out my hand gun as 10k slowly opened the door. It was a black abyss inside. 10k pulled out a torch from one of his pockets and gently threw it towards me. I caught it with one hand and flicked the switch. A burst of light emitted from it. I scanned the room and saw Doc searching some boxes on the floor. 10k walked in with a relived look on his face.
'Oh hey kids' Doc said with a grin' I found my OxyContin!' He said gleefully.
'Right well I think it's time to get back to the truck, everyone is wondering where you are' I say with a smile.
Me and 10k pretty much ended up dragging him away from the room as he was not willing to move. We walked down the endless hallways making our way back to the truck. Warren and Vasquez were already back at the truck stood next to Addy who was doing something with her z whacker and some cables. It was quite a sight. 'What's going on?' I asked 10k.
'From what I can see she is trying to contact Citizen Z, he's this guy who has been leading us for the entire time we have been on this mission.' He explained.
'Wait mission? What mission?'
'Oh has no one told you? Basically we have to deliver someone called Murphy to a lab in California as he has been injected with the cure for the zombie apocalypse, he has the anti-bodies we need to create the cure. Only problem is that we don't currently know where he is.'
I nod my head and piece together all the information.

Once we approached the rest of the group they all smiled over at Doc who had his pockets full of Oxy and whatever else he found in there. I could hear the static noise coming from the radio as Addy was trying to contact this Citizen Z guy. A voice soon becomes clear and I can hear a man talking, must be him.
'Hello? Hello it's Citizen Z. Operation Bite mark, come in Operation bite mark. How is the package?'
'Gone, we don't know where he is, do you have any information on his location' Warren said sternly.
'No I'm afraid not, I can wire up the mainframe and look.'
'Yes, thank you. That would be great.' Warren said gratefully ' anyway we best be off, no time to hang around in the apocalypse, we are going to head South, see what we can find there. We will contact you again when we find somewhere to stay for a few days. Talk soon.'
'Talk soon Operation Bite Mark'
The line went dead as Addy began detaching what she had just built. There were so many wires I can't understand how she did it.
'So what do you think of Citizen Z?' She asked with a smile.
'Well he seemed a bit weird, but it sounded like he knew what he was doing so I guess that's good' I reply.
'Yeah he's defiantly a  tad weird. I talked to him once and he went a little bit crazy over me!' She said with a laugh.

Thank you so much for 200 views! I know it's small but it means a lot to me :) I'm sorry the chapters are short but I'm going to work on longer ones and sorry it's kinda all over the place, kinda got writers block so I'm adding little stuff in like this :) I will try and get a new chapter out once a week but maybe more, hopefully not less. Sorry that kinda dragged on there :3
