I slouched in my chair, staring blankly at the teacher as he rambled on about world peace or something like that. A scrunched up piece of paper landed on my desk and I unfolded it slowly to read.
Turn that frown upside down, dance partner
I glared over at Ashton and wrote back
Bite me
I threw the paper back at him and felt another piece land near my hand
Just tell me where sunshine ;)
I let out a frustrated sigh and tore the note into little pieces before turning my full attention to the teacher at the front of the classroom.
Class dragged on slowly until finally it was lunch. Looking over the food that was being served I scrunched up my nose when I saw the majority of it was different kind of salads. With a sigh I picked up a ceaser salad and bottle of water before making my way over to where Tori was sitting. Once I had taken my seat on the edge of the seat I began eating my salad, nodding occasionally at what Tori was saying until a voice interrupted us.
"Mind if we join you?"
I looked up at Ashton, West and Jessica all with their lunch, well… Jessica had what she classifies as "food".
"There are plenty of other tables where you can sit" I huffed with taking another mouthful of salad.
A 'plonk' sound echoed slightly as West dumped his things on the table and sat down.
"Sure make yourself at home" Tori said sarcastically.
"Thanks cuz, I will" Smirked West before taking a massive bite of his sandwich.
Ashton was the next to sit down and he began talking to West about some football game that had recently been on while they shoved their lunch in their mouths.
"Um babe, can't we sit somewhere else?" Jessica said while clearing her throat.
"Why can't we sit here?"
"Because I'd rather sit with my friends than her" she sneered while looking directly at me.
"Please do" I muttered under my breath.
"I'm fine here though, you can sit with them"
"No babe we have to sit together!" she whined like a child.
With a sigh West stood up and threw his arm over her shoulder before walking over to where all her friends sat. The minute they got close to the table all the girls started squealing and congratulating them. I shuddered at their high pitched voices and told Tori I'd see her in Hip Hop. I made my way back to my dorm and got dressed into my clothes quickly before hurrying through the cold air to the dance studios. I just wanted a few minutes alone, no one else, just me. I asked one of the teacher's if there was an empty studio I could use and she lead me to the vacant room. I thanked her before closing the door and dumping my bag on the floor. I rolled my shoulders before stretching so I didn't pull a muscle or injure myself, that's the last thing I needed right now. They'd have to send me home and I'd be stuck in a house with my dad and Rebecca. I think I'd rather pull every hair on my head out one by one instead of being stuck with the two of them.
I turned the music on and started to move to the beat slowly. It wasn't a fast, upbeat song, but a slower song. One my mother used to dance to with me when I was a little girl. I closed my eyes and without thinking started to dance our dance. I knew it off by heart; it was my favourite dance by far. Slowly spinning and turning with grace I began to get lost in the music, lost in the moment, for the first time in a few days my mind was blank. My heart didn't hurt as much as it usually does and I felt my walls slipping slightly. I felt vulnerable and I was glad it was only me in the room, I would hate for anyone to see me like this. When the song ended I sat near my bag that I had dropped near the mirror. I felt a tear slowly slide down my cheek and sniffed before wiping it away quickly. Collecting all my things, I packed up my bag and made my way to class. I took a deep breath and was about to walk in when a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the door.
An arm was placed on the wall behind me, stopping me from escaping. While a smug look spread across his face as he leaned in a little closer.
"Miss me?" Smirked West.
I crossed my arms and huffed, looking away from him.
"Was I supposed to miss you?"
He chuckled and leaned in even closer.
"We've been apart for 24 hours"
I faked a loud gasp and put a hand to my heart dramatically.
"24 hours! However have I survived without you?!"
He rolled his eyes and stepped away from me.
"24 hours isn't long enough away from you" I said monotonously.
"Ha ha ha, you're funny" He replied sarcastically.
I pushed him away and rolled my eyes before walking towards the door again.
"I just wanted to apologize for how Jess acted at lunch" he sighed.
"Seriously? It's fine, forget it. I don't really care what she says or thinks about me" I shrugged before pushing the door open and walking into class.
Luck did not seem to be on my side today. Every other class flew by quickly until I reached the partner dance class. Right now I was deciding on what ways I could cut off Ashton's hands if they slid a little lower than they were meant to one more time.
“Seriously buddy, don’t touch what you can’t handle” I snapped at him, placing his hands on my hips once more.
“What do you mean dear dance partner?” said while smiling innocently.
I did a pirouette and elbowed him in the stomach on purpose while spinning around. He let out a slight groan at the impact and let out a deep breath.
“Opse it was an accident” I said in a sweet and sarcastic voice.
“Accident my ass” he mumbled.
“What was that dear dance partner?” I said innocently, repeating his words from before.
“Nothing” he said through clenched teeth.
“That’s what I thought” I smirked before concentrating on the dance routine we were currently learning.
Who knows maybe being stuck with Ashton as my dance partner might have its perks?
