Sweet as Ice Cream

I turn and see Jungkook standing under a tree in the school courtyard. I run over to him, waving my hand as I near. He turns to me and smiles, waving back at me. I catch up and stand next to him, looking into his eyes as he smiles at me.

"Ready to go?" He asks as he reaches to pick up his brown school bag.

I nod eagerly and he begins walking, me trailing close behind. "Oppa, where are we going to hang out?" I ask him while we cross the street.

"I told my hyungs we'd meet at that park we went to before, is that ok?" He says, glancing back to look at me, his gaze laying on my face.

"Yeah that's awesome!" I exclaim as I pick up my pace now that I know where we're headed.

"Hey [Name]-ah slow down!" Jungkook whines as I overtake him and cross the next street. "You're going so fast!"

I stop walking and turn around to wait for him. He jogs up next to me and puts his hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry Jungkook, I'm just really excited." I tell him as I glance at the ground.

"It's fine, but just don't leave me." He says.

For some reason my face heats up slightly at his words but I don't know why, it's not like he was flirting or said something romantic he just told me to not run ahead, so why does that make me feel so weird? I begin pondering this question, my bright smile dimming into a faint frown of concentration. Jungkook notices my sudden change in expression and faces me directly, startling me out of my thoughts. "Hey, smile with me, ok? I'm sorry if what I said upset you." He says as I look into his beautiful eyes.

"It wasn't that- no I'm sorry." I apologize, feeling guilty that I made him think it was his fault.

"Still, don't frown. You look so much cuter when you're happy." He remarks as we begin walking again.

My face fully heats up now, I can feel it becoming red with embarrassment. I keep my mouth closed, scared that I'll blurt out something stupid.

As we close the distance between us and the park I begin to be able to make out figures that represent the others sitting at a picnic table. "Hey, there they are. I guess we can run now." Jungkook suggests.

An idea pops into my head as I listen to him speak. "Last one there has to buy the other ice cream!" I yell as I take off running towards the guys.

"Hey no fair!" He laughs as he chases after me.

I laugh and wave to the guys at the picnic table as they see Jungkook and I running over. They wave back and I'm about 20 feet away from the table when suddenly Jungkook speeds up and runs ahead of me. I try to speed up as much as possible but I had used all of my speed up in the beginning and now my legs are tired and heavy. I slow down, accepting my defeat and just walk the rest of the way to the table.

"Hyungs, we'll be right back we're going to get ice cream." Jungkook explains to the others. I put my stuff down next to Hoseok and follow Jungkook as we walk away.

"Hey can I come? I'm kind of hungry." Seokjin comments, standing up from the table. Jungkook and I nod and he follows along with us.

"Hi Seokjin Oppa." I say, smiling at him. "You look really good today."

"Thank you [Name]-ah, you look wonderful as well." He says, returning the complement. "How was your day at school today?" He asks.

"It was good, Jungkook bugged me all day though." I joke.

Jungkook turns around to face us at the sound of his name. "What do you mean I bugged you? I was just hanging out." He whines.

"I was just joking Oppa." I laugh.

"Oh." Jungkook mumbles.

"You kids." Seokjin laughs loudly, his laugh filling the quiet and making everything seem natural and peaceful.

As we reach the ice cream place I pull out money and hand it to Jungkook. "Here," I mumble. "You won, fair and square."

"[Name]-ah if you're paying for Jungkook's ice cream, do you want me to buy you some?" Seokjin asks as he pulls out money.

"N- No you don't have to I can pay for my own, thank you." I say as I order ice cream.

"If you're sure." Seokjin remarks as he orders his own ice cream.

We wait a second for it to come out and when it does I hold mine and take a big bite from it, the cold stinging my teeth but the taste dancing around me tongue. "That is so good!" I yell out as I take another bite, stuffing my mouth full of the icy treat.

Jungkook and Seokjin glance at each other, smirks gliding onto their lips. Laughs break out between the two. Seokjin leans next to me and glances at my purchase. He looks up at me and smiles softly. "Can I have a bite?" He asks.

I nod slowly. He leans further down and takes a lick of the ice cream and swallows it. "You're right, that is good." He says, nodding in agreement.

A look of anger washes over Jungkook but he brushes it off as we begin walking back towards the others. As we near the table a turn to Seokjin. "Oppa, can I have a bite of your ice cream?" I ask him.

He turns his head to me and smiles. "Sure, since I had some of yours." He responds, holding his ice cream out to me. I take a bite of his ice cream and smile at the sensation that dances throughout my mouth.

"That's good too!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, it's my favorite I get it every time." He smiles as he pats my head.

"Wait [Name]!" I hear Taehyung say from behind both of us. I turn to him with worry in my eyes as I search him up and down (totally not checking him out) to see if there was an evident problem. "I thought we were ice cream buddies!"

"Uh.... W- We are I'm sorry Taehyung here you can have some of mine." I offer as I hold out the cone, a drip of ice cream rolling down the side onto my hand.

Taehyung takes the cone and glances at my hand briefly. He eyes the ice cream and takes a bite out of it, licking his lips after. "Good choice." He said as he takes my hand. He kisses the part where ice creamhad dripped and smiles into my hand. "There's no difference." He says as he walks away, the rest of the boys looking away and talking amongst themselves.

"What do you mean 'no difference?'" I ask as my hand retreats quickly to my pocket.

"You and that ice cream. You're just as sweet." He smirks and begin turning away. "But you look better." He adds as he joins a conversation between Yoongi and Jimin, still smirking.
