Chips and Salsa

Chapter 3

One day they took Phil away.
Dan screamed and cried but the creatures couldn't hear them. Phil tried to comfort him but he was taken away too fast. He was crying when they poured him into a bowl.
He was still alive.
The creatures could never hear them.
They took Dans friends- Dans family away.
They poured them into a bowl.
Most of them.
Dan stayed.
Turns out he was on the bottom of the bag after all.
The creatures rolled up the bag, cracking some of the other chips, and they closed the door
Dan was not cracked, but he was also not fine.
He could hear loud noises outside of the door, ones that didn't come from the creatures. He could hear the crunching of his family from a creature that seemed to not care about how loud they were. He cried for a very long time.
After a while the door opened again. Dan was poured out, along with the rest of his family into an almost empty bowl.
Some crumbs of the eaten ones had collected on the bottom.
He tried to tell them that he knew what he was- what was happening- that he was conscious and so was Phil but they couldn't hear.
They closed the door and led him outside.
It was the last time he'd see his home.
He was taken farther and farther away into the blurry crowd of noisy creatures.
He saw what was left of Phil.
Phil was halfway gone, and he was crying. Dan was crying too, but Phil... Phil sounded like he was almost dead.
Dan yelled out Phil's name, and Phil noticed that Dan was there.
Phil just cried more.
Dan asked him why, and Phil told him what had happened to all of the other chips.
Dan told him that at least they'd be together for once before Dan died.
A hand violently grabbed into the bowl, cracking a few chips including Dan.
Phil cried out but that didn't help Dan.
Dan was grabbed by a single person.
And Dan was dipped into Phil.
Even though they had been waiting for this, it was not a happy moment. It was honestly the worst of their short lives, as they knew it would be the last.
And as Dan was brought up to this creatures teeth, he was sure of so much, most of all Phil.
And then with his final moment, he reminded Phil to never change. To be himself for the rest of time.
The creature bit down.
