For I didn't know how long, I'd been hiding in a small garden of golden flowers. All alone. I've been living off snails and golden flower tea - cold tea. If I hadn't been so thoughtless, Undyne would be alive. But I just had to try and befriend that human, when would I learn?
Suddenly, on another lonely evening, I heard footsteps. Quickly, I hid under a white sheet covering a large throne. I tried to be quiet but I was so scared, I closed my eyes and just waited for something to happen.
All of a sudden, the white sheet was lifted abruptly. I was shaking all over then I started crying. "Y-yo, p-p-please d-don't hurt m-me!" My eyes were still tightly shut with tears streaming. Then I heard a soft voice.
"Shhh, it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. Open your eyes." They sounded like a boy. I opened my eyes to the sight of a human crouching down to the height I was sitting. I screamed and closed my eyes again. I heard some rustling then the human asked, "Are you hungry? You look very skinny. Here, have a chocolate bar." I opened both my eyes slowly and stared at the chocolate being held in front of my face. Hastily, I grabbed the food with my foot, opened it and stuffed it in my mouth. It tasted so good! The boy was smiling at me softly. "See, it's okay, I am just trying to help you. Why don't you tell me your name?" I trusted him. I swallowed the contents in my mouth.
"Well, the bad human called me Monster Kid and everyone else just calls me Kid."
"Okay, I'll call you... 'M.K'! Short for 'Monster Kid'." I kinda' liked it so I nodded.
"Alright, how about I take you upstairs with me to somewhere safe, here take my hand." He held out his five-fingered hand and I took it with my foot. He chuckled, "No, you have to grab it with your hand!" I gave me a smile.
"Yo, I don't have any hands, see?" I moved the stumps on my upper body. He seemed shocked."Don't worry, I was born without arms or hands." I reassured him.
"Okay then, just-"
"JAMIE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? COME BACK HERE NOW!" It sounded like Undyne!
"Undyne!" I yelled. She walked through the entrance and peeked round.
"Kid!"
"Undyne!" I ran out of the throne towards her and she greeted me with a hug, tears were in both of our eyes. "I thought you were dead! I thought that the human killed you!""Well, they needed to try harder than they did to get rid of me,the great Undyne!"
"I'm so sorry Undyne..." I admitted when we released.
"For what?"
"I-I was so stupid. I tried to befriend the human and approached them when you said not too, because of me, you almost died." I changed from tears of joy to tears of sadness.
"Hey, you didn't know. You're just a sweet monster who tries to see the good in everyone, I don't blame you for trying to do the right thing, sadly it just wasn't with the right person." She smiled softly at me then turned to the boy who I gathered must've been Jamie. "Jamie, I guess I should thank you for making me come down here. If you hadn't run off, we would've never found -" She looked at me. "Um, what IS your name, kid?"
"M.K, it's short for monster kid, Jamie made it up!" I beamed at Jamie.
"Well, we never would've found M.K. So, thanks, you saved the life of an innocent monster." Jamie closed his eyes and gave a wide smile at Undyne opening his arms. "What? No, I'm not hugging you! Who do you think I am? Some soft fish girl who hugs anyone who does something good? No way!" She pushed him aside and walked on. Jamie crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. I burst out laughing. Because I had barely slept since the human left and I hadn't used so much breath and energy for so long, I felt light headed and fainted.
I woke up to something cold and wet on my head.
"Hey, you're awake!" It was Jamie. "Undyne! M.K's awake!" I sat up and looked at my surroundings. I was sat on a couch with Jamie sat next to me. Undyne approached, holding a mug. She was wearing a short-sleeved top and jeans. "Here, drink this up." She handed the mug of brown liquid to me, I held it with my feet and gave it a sniff. "What's this?"
"It's hot cocoa, Jamie said you needed to get your sugar levels up so went to the store to get some as well as some marshmallows, here." She dropped some of the round, white and pink marshmallows into the mug. I sipped it timidly, it was so nice that I ended up gulping down the rest of it. I burped and Jamie giggled. "Man, sorry, haha..." I said.
After two more mugs of hot chocolate and over half a pack of marshmallows, I laid back with a full stomach. "So, M.k, what's happened since, y'know, I left after the human defeated me?" Undyne pushed Jamie aside and took his place beside me.
"Well, when you started to fight the human, I ran as fast as I could back to my home in Snowdin but nobody was there. Man, I looked everywhere but I just couldn't find anybody. I walked back to where you were battling the human but you were nowhere to be seen so I thought that you'd been killed... I didn't know where to go so I just walked all the way to this garden and lived off of snails and golden flower tea that I found in a nice house because I found a note that said I could help myself to anything. I didn't know how to heat up the water without fire magic (which is what my mom does) because I haven't mastered it yet so I had to have cold tea. I was gonna' sleep in one of the bedrooms but I didn't want to be rude just in case the monsters came back. That's why I hid in the garden, sleepin' on the soft flower bed. 'Cause I ate so little, I slept lot's so I had no idea of how long I had been staying there. Then, you dudes saved me." I looked down at my empty mug. "Yo, don't worry, I'm all fine now I'm here!" I smiled.
"Yes, you're all fine now. We're never going back down to that awful underground. You can stay here with me and learn things on the computer and the television." We both grinned at each other. The Jamie stood up off of the couch with a look of frustration. "Hey! There could be more monsters down there for all we know! M.K said that there were no monsters to be seen but surely they couldn't have just disappeared into thin air because you never said that the villagers and shopkeepers were killed and didn't Alphys evacuate monsters that were alive?" He glared at Undyne. Undyne looked angered. She stood up and towered over him.
"Hey, kid! Just because you were right one time, doesn't mean you'll be right again! I am not going back to the underground!"
"H-hey Undyne, he could be right!"
"See? M.K agrees with me!"
"NGAHHH! Shut up! Look, we need to be realistic! Face it, nobody is down there! They're all dead!" She started tearing up. " I failed them, okay! I failed everyone; Papyrus, Sans, Alphys, if I had just confronted the human again, I could've destroyed them! But I was weak! I failed everyone. Everyone's dead because of ME!" She was both angry and upset. After shouting so much, both Jamie and I had frightened looks on our faces. Undyne stepped back and fled to her room, slamming the door behind her.
